What travellers are saying
- Grover RPensacola, FL22,409 contributionsYes, this is a sports stadium best experienced in a sporting event, namely baseball, but has hosted football, hockey and concerts; however, there is a reason it is number 1 in this historic colonial city. It is a MUST SEE American venue with loads of sporting history, a true American Gothic facility. A relic of a bygone era, before the automobile but after the age of steel, this stadium highlights the days when clustered cities nestled civic venues into specialized local spaces that allow for unique oddities. Bathed in an almost Celtic green, the stadium is easily recognized from any view. It is further distinguished by features like the huge left field wall, known as the "Green Monster" to the triangle shaped outfield bleachers and unique right field corner that has the famous Pesky Pole. This a MUST SEE attraction in Boston whether you like sports or not.
While you can see it anytime, the best time to see it is an event and especially a Red Sox game. We made a point to come back to Boston on our New England trip to experience a game. We had right field box seats, very close to the Pesky Pole. The pole which is the shortest distance from home plate in the major leagues at 302 feet is covered in signatures. Here you have great views of the press box, Green Monster and outfield triangle. We were very lucky to experience a quick Red Sox 3-1 victory against the White Sox with a game winning home run over the Green Monster in the home half of the 7th inning. All in all it is an amazing venue with tons of sports and American history that is a fun place to visit for families or couples. One of our group's favorite experiences in Boston.Written December 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Birgitta-KennethSolna, Sweden1,580 contributionsIt is interesting but it is also really well done as an experience in a different way with new ways to interact and present the story. - Alison SSpringfield, MA1,042 contributionsLimited paid parking next to the museum; more in parking garage across the street. From the parking garage, you cannot enter the museum by the "obvious" entrance you see when you exit the garage. Rather you have to walk a considerable distance to entrances on either front or back of the building. We went today for a special exhibition which had an odd theme but featured one of my favorite artists and included lots of her work including pieces I had never seen. Very rewarding! We ate lunch in the cafe which was excellent.Written January 11, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Edith178 contributionsThis is an incredibly historic place featuring a beautiful architectural scene. With restaurants that serve incredible food to places marking the start of the Revolutionary War and the birth of America, this is the best place in Boston.Written December 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KieraTin603Danbury, NH499 contributionsI’ve visited in winter and again in summer both experiences were great. In winter there was ice skating and Christmas lights setting a very romantic atmosphere. In summer the gardens are well maintained for the amount of people visiting. I enjoyed the rose garden area.Written January 19, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- kerri2227 contributionsMy daughter and I knew little about this museum before we went, but we are so glad we decided to go. It was absolutely beautiful. We spent about 90 minutes there because that was all the time we had. But, you could spend hours adoring it all.Written December 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Cassie HCalgary, Canada1,082 contributionsAs a Kennedy fanatic I needed out here. The museum is incredibly well done. I LOVE Bobby Kennedy so I was happy there were a few exhibits that touched on him. The entire museum and gift shop were well done. Bring Kleenex. The only downside was I had to take an Uber there and back.Written December 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MrTeeDubYa9 contributionsWe took the Signature Tour with my wife and grown kids. This was a great experience- educated on the ingredients and beer making process. The guides were friendly, welcoming and funny. We had the opportunity to take 3 different beers (flight glasses)... probably got the equivalent of two full beers AND got to keep the glass. All of this for 10 bucks... well worth it- good value!Written January 6, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Grover RPensacola, FL22,409 contributionsThis is one of the oldest public spaces in the United States, and while today we see it as a park, its origins were so much more that makes it quintessential American. Shortly after the Puritans crossed the Charles River to form what would become the Capitol of New England in Boston, they designated the hillside on SW section of the city a "Common" area open to use by all. It was used as a public place for grazing, but soon other activities took place on the grounds.
After centuries of use, cities and the country changed and while it was never designed or designated a park, it became a great urban recreational area. Today, combined with the Public Garden and Olmstead's Emerald Necklace, it is an incredible space in the middle of the city on par with the great parks of America like Central Park, the National Mall and Golden Gate Park.
When we visited you get all the great recreational amenities of trees, plazas and public art surrounded by incredible buildings both historic and modern. Adjacent to the Common are great historic buildings like the Massachusetts State House and the Park Street Church. However, everywhere you can see the skyscrapers of the city like the Prudential Building, Hancock Tower and the Millennium Tower. In addition to baseball fields and tennis courts, the Common has some great art sculptures like "The Embrace" and the monument to the Robert Gould Shaw and the 54th Mass Regiment and it even has a colonial cemetery.
Again, this is part historic public space and part urban recreational area all rolled into a MUST SEE part of Boston.Written January 14, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
