- Eva TUnited Kingdom4,799 contributionsOur first visit to NYC and we found it on the second day of our stay. The main entry from Herald Square had fab decoration and on the pavement was plaque commemorating centennial of the shop. The windows on W 34th St made me curious what I can find inside and it was a lot. On this side of the beautiful building (I loved it) we found plaque commemorating the beginning of motion pictures in April 1896! It's huge, the goods were priced OK, some more expensive than others but I think everybody could find something. Next time in NYC I will take bigger luggage and visit it again.Written July 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - magicmansteve1Toms River, NJ1,336 contributionsIt’s like a complete shopping mall for women in one store. Pocketbooks makeup and clothes. This is a very big store that you could get lost in. Every major brand is here.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Marian MDublin, Ireland81 contributionsExcellent store with some bargains though the exchange rate with euro is not favourable at present. - TwyfordNew York City, NY139 contributionsBG is always fun to visit. Start at the top if you have never been there. You will be astounded by the home decor and accessories department. Look for the bunny plates and napkins and china. Fun! The staff in all departments is first rate and never stuffy. Just helpful and they love to chat when not too busy.Written July 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maltipoo16New York1,872 contributionsThis store is very large and has multiple stories. There is an escalator to bring you up and down, and the layout is kind of like a maze. It’s very hard to navigate and the signage doesn’t help much. The outside of the building is iconic, so hopefully H&M never goes out of business!Written January 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StephenCrossDublin, Ireland30,899 contributionsLocated just off union Square this is an interesting and sizeable shop. The name doesn’t really do it justice as I was expecting something more of lower end.Written March 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ClintPageNew York City, NY9,981 contributionsI've been to Barney's uptown many times, and I always find it a little uppity. I finally got to explore the one downtown this weekend. It was not only really cool, but I found the service chill and relaxed. I didn't feel uncomfortable while browsing. People were really nice. The clothes are really cutting-edge with lots of up and coming designers. It's more downtown and less suits. Pretty cool here. Love the accessories departments. They have a cool basement cosmetics department too. - Nancy FWashington, DC, United States10 contributionsWe actually live in NYC and periodically go to Nordstrom's to shop. Most recently, we've been spending quite a bit of time at the store shopping for spring clothes. This store is not like any. other Nordstrom stores that I've been to in other cities or suburbs. This store is incredible. The selection of merchandise is huge and it's not all of the same designers that you see in every other store. They have a wide selection of brands that we were not as familiar with, ranging in styles for all ages.
The staff is also quite helpful and so nice. They follow-up when you're in the dressing room, running to get other sizes or styles. We shopped on a number of floors for swimwear, lingerie, casual clothes, dress clothes and shoes and in every instance the sales staff were helpful and cheerful, in contrast to other department stores in the city.
Our final stop was shoes which we got to shortly before the store was closing. They happened to be quiet busy because of the beautiful spring weather and someone approached us asking if we were going to try shoes on and they took our name and had a fabulous system in place where they called your name when a member of the sales staff was available. We happened to get matched with Mo, who was incredible. He was so nice, helpful, and so very knowledgeable about the shoes; how they fit, bringing us other styles to try. My daughter wanted a pair of walking/running sneakers and had picked out two of them, which were not really right for what she was looking for. Mo came back with five other styles and we ended up purchasing one of the pairs he suggested. The store had closed and he did not rush us out and actually went in the back to retrieve other shoes for us. We wound up purchasing four pairs of shoes because he was so helpful.
If you have the time, it's worth going out of your way to shop at the NYC Nordstroms. And, if the weather is bleak, it's a great way to spend the day and eat at one of the many restaurants in the store. We will definitely go back next season for clothing.Written April 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. While seeking assistance to purchase a perfume ( Man perfume) , the assistant retrieved it from the drawer but then rudely took it from me , insisting I had to request it from the cashier and the way she was talking to me was like I’m a thief . The manner in which she treated me felt accusatory, and she even walked away while talking. I would rate her customer service as 0 out of 10. Unfortunately, I couldn't catch her name, but she was an African American girl with wavy black hair.Written January 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hsin-Yi WForest Hills, NY924 contributionsEverything is under $5 dollars which is a great deal but surprisingly organized compared to other dollar stores.
There are lots of hidden gems in the store for example we found a cushion bench today, of course $5 each, which might be sold for more than $10 on Amazon.Written March 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They feature a slide, coffee bar and they have interactive exhibits when you wave your want at particular stations. Highly recommend this gallery if you want to do some shopping, check out pop up shops and fill your IG feed with art. The pop ups and exhibit change so I'll definitely be back. - therichastillStevenage, UK3,315 contributionsOh Man! As a limey I love Target. We don't have any branches of them in the UK so when I am in the USA I always make a special point of visiting Target to get something I would not be able to get in the UK.
There are plenty of small Target stores dotted around Manhattan and I took advantage of them getting things to eat and drink as well as things to wear.
I had to go to New Jersey to visit a larger store with a larger range.
The staff who served me were all polite and helpful.Written December 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
