What travellers are saying
- Thomas VOakland, CA15,870 contributionsThis is one of my favorite spots in Central Park, so when we decided to spend an afternoon here, we made this our objective. It is lovely 19th Century sculpture and was always considered one of the highlights of park design. Always a lot of people around. Great on a sunny day.Written July 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN3,149 contributionsVibrant area surrounding Rockefeller Center. The most magical time to visit is during the winter months when the Christmas Tree is on display and the skating rink is open.Written June 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dustythoughtsManchester, CT1,984 contributionsThis strikingly beautiful statue is a perfect injunction for peace in this chaotic times. It's located in a small green space right next to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and is a good place to sit, take in some greenery, and enjoy some quietude. I love coming here with a bagel to eat, or just to enjoy the flow of people. This statue is super detailed and should be studied at leisure. This statue isn't nearly as well-known as it should be, which is unfortunate, given how many people go through the cathedral.Written May 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StephenCrossDublin, Ireland18,241 contributionsReally attractive Fountain in Central Park. It’s worth a stop off for a few photos. The water was not flowing so bit average.Written October 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RumplesTucson, AZ11,596 contributionsThis fairly basic granite-and-bronze fountain in Bryant Park honors a late 19th-century social worker, Josephine Shaw Lowell (1843-1905). She served as the first female member of the New York State Board pf Charities.
Designed by Charles A. Platt, the fountain was dedicated in 1912. A 13-foot-wide upper basin stands on a pedestal in a 32-foot-wide lower basin. When I saw it recently on a hot, sunny day, about 15 people sat on chairs around the fountain, reading or looking at phones. The falling water seemed to soothe and cool.
The fountain stands at Sixth Avenue between 40th and 41st streets at the West side of the park.Written October 11, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
