We went on the boat to The Statue of Liberty, and when we arrived, we picked up our audio sets and used this to go around the island learning all about the history of the Statue of Liberty. It was an interesting tour, and we all learnt a lot whilst listening to the audio

A stunning building and very well thought out. The architecture is wonderful and it’s so serene in there even though it’s now shops.

I just recently heard about the Charging Bull, so I put it on my list of things so do.
However, there was a HUGE line to wait into climb on it's head
    and
just as long of a line to touch it's testicles for good luck.
    Therefore, we only walked by.
A fun stop- IF you are in the area already.

This is a nice part of Central Park with the Imagine Mosaic Memorial for John Lennon. While the mosaic was a lovely touch, the area did not seem to be looked after very well. A few more nice flower beds would have made a difference to the ambience of the area. It is a solem, but happy place to visit though.

One of the most popular monuments in Central Park, the Alice in Wonderland Statue was dedicated in 1959. It sits in a scenic spot near the Conservatory Water. The statue is quite large and is a popular spot for children to climb up on top of it. Nearby is the Hans Christian Andersen statue where a children's storytelling program takes place every Saturday morning during the summer. The statue was a gift to the city from the famous publisher George Delacorte in remembrance of his recently deceased wife as this was her favorite book to read to their children.

It was such a great experience seeing such an inspiring statue!! I think the only downfall was the amount of people crowded around to take pictures and no organization of a line haha! But overall, so cool to see a such an iconic symbol :)

The ancient Egyptian obelisk otherwise known as Cleopatras Needle stands proudly in the east of Central Park, close to the MET.

A great historical spot to stop at and take in as at over 3500 years old this obelisk has aged very well!

This monument was the last stop on our New York City Slavery and Underground Railroad Tour and, since it was the same end of the tour, we decided to go into the museum. I'm so glad we did. We arrived just in time to join a park ranger guided tour of the artwork in the lobby. Wow! Such profound and moving art! When that finished, we walked around the museum. I'd never heard the story that led to the creation of the monument and museum in this sacred place, despite the long-buried cemetery being discovered in 1989. If you're in the city, you MUST visit. This part of the history of NYC should not be forgotten.

Dog statue in central park. It is situated in the park but shows up on the street on the map on TripAdvisor which isn't in the right spot.

We had been walking 5th Avenue and turned in to see the Rockefeller Building and wandered around the plaza. It was so pretty with the lights in the trees and all the flags with the iconic statue in the background and the ice rink. Seen so many times in films, it was just starting to lose the daylight and it was very, very striking.
There were lights on the ice rink and Prometheus and Atlas statues were both amazing.
Well worth seeing and very memorable.

Remaining piece of original World Trade Centre destroyed on September 11,2001.

Nice park and worth a brief stop to reflect.

Very touching memorial to fallen firefighters. Tastefully done. A lot larger than it looks in photos. This is a must see if you’re in the area. NEVER FORGET

This is mostly just a place to pick up tickets to go to Liberty and Ellis Islands. Although 7.5 million people arrived here from 1855-1890 (including some of my German ancestors), there are only a few relics around inside, and one room with displays, mysteriously most of them are information about other places in America. I thought there might be a place to look up the names of some ancestors who came through here, but no.
