One of the best museums in the world. I strongly recommend it. A museum not to be missed at New York City.

I went here without any research like I normally do when I visit an art museum. But I did google the top paintings to see once I got there. I spent about 2 hours and could have stayed much longer but I did see many of the most famous pieces. I was at the Louvre and the D’Orsay in Paris this year and can say that I enjoyed the MOMA as much as those museums. It isn’t so big that it overwhelms which is nice and crowds are smaller.

This place is very special and if you can try to visit every season. They have super interesting rooms filled with artifacts of medieval life and art bur we were very interested with their 3 court yards. So interesting.
Every time we visit, we see something else there and the visits always lift our spirits.

The art was exceptional and the scan information code by each piece via audio was very informative.
I was disappointed that the mansion is undergoing renovation and closed to the public.
I was looking forward to seeing the living quarters after reading The Magnolia Palace by Fiona Davis. It was a great book!

Location: the Whitney is close to Little island and pier 57 nearby to Greenwich.
Facilities: An interesting 8 floor building that has an outdoor multi level terrace where visitors can get a view of the surrounding area including a view of New Jersey across the river. Visitors can walk outside between floors 8 to 6. Floors 2 and 4 are not accessible. Washrooms are not on every floor and are small.
Exhibitions: There is a permanent collection including recognizable names like O’Keefe and Hopper, but also other forms of art and artists for those who appreciate something different. A set of central escalators help you get up or down. We went to the top then worked our way down.
Overall: A good place to see contemporary art that you may be unfamiliar with. If you just want to see the ‘hits’ then this might not be the best choice.

The Neue Galerie is a world renowned and well regarded museum based in Manhattan, New York.

In May of 2023, I brought and treated my wife for a visit to the Neue Galerie and we very much enjoyed our time there.

The building that contains the museum is referred to as the William Starr Miller House. Designed by the prominent 20th Century architectural firm, Carrere and Hastings, the house once served as the residence for William Starr Miller, a successful industrialist and real estate operator, and subsequently, owned by Grace Vanderbilt, an American socialite, and the spouse of Cornelius Vanderbilt III, an American inventor, and member of the Vanderbilt Family.

Today, the Miller House is owned and occupied by the Neue Galerie museum. The museum was established by Ronald S. Lauder, a highly successful entrepreneur and philanthropist as a tribute to his friend, Serge Sarbasky an eminent 20th Century art collector and dealer.

Neue Galerie primarily features early 20th Century German & Austrian art. When visiting the museum, both my wife and I enjoyed viewing the paintings by Gustav Klimt and Oskar Kokoschka.

Our favorite painting was Klimt’s work, Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, also called The Lady in Gold. We not only found this to be a stunning painting, but we also admired its incorporation of Byzantine, Egyptian & Greek artistic elements.

If you love early 20th Century German & Austrian art, then you should definitely visit and explore the Neue Galerie

My husband and I visited the NY Historical society today. We highly recommend it. It's easily accessed by subway, and right across from Central Park. We spent close to 3 hours and there is so much to see we couldn't cover it all. Must sees, in no particular order, are the gallery of Tiffany lamps, Kay Walking Stick /Hudson River School, Acts of Faith and the American West, Enchanting Imagination: The Objets d’Art of André Chervin and Carvin French Jewelers and Women's Work. There's lots more, but we couldn't stay longer and are sure we'll be back.

It's good we got here when we did, as they are only open until 6PM today.

Went Dark here at the Gugg for the day.

I do enjoy the flow of this museum up the spiral gradual ramp.

We did want to get a refreshment at the end of the visit, but they blocked it from guests well after 4PM and far enough from closing. It's good there are kiosks selling water and beverages right up front.

I bought a Going Dark cap, several postcards for family and some blank card notes with the New Yorker magazine themed for my brother. Around $60 for entry and another $58 for postcards and a cap.

A unique museum featuring mostly modern art. Houses some famous pieces as well or perhaps on loan.

This unassuming museum is beautifully curated with fun activities for the entire family. I particularly loved the Language of Symbols and Dorothy Liebes exhibits. The Carnegie Mansion is the perfect location. Unfortunately, when we went, the cafe and garden were not open but we still had a great time. It was very quiet when we went so it was a nice break. We were able to take our time and enjoy reading everything.

convenient location in Columbus Circle. a little pricey for what you get ($18) but I had a pass. there were 3 open floors of galleries plus the lovely goblet display in the stairwell. gorgeous wood carvings in one section, and various other "crafts" showcasing them to actually be just as elevated as "art". exploring what is the difference anyway... ? puppetry, performance art, sculpture, quits, and more gave the visitor plenty to see and enjoy. installations rotate so check what's on! ps - I didn't go the Taylor Swift floor but you are able to see one display on your way to the second floor (which was kind of cool). Nice museum, I would go back.

Great spot to visit if you find yourself in Upper West. The museum is tucked away in a pretty building and there's three floors worth of art and other things related to Roerich. The collection is substantial but not so large as to cause fatigue.

I'd seen the work of these people in the South of France in the extremely exciting setting of a stone mine! The old Emigrants Industrial Savings Bank is the venue here: also fascinating, even the old tellers' windows still line the walls. The Chagall and Kandinsky displays were beautiful and moving. We experienced them on the main floor, but on the lower floor I think the feeling is better, the space is much more iopen. While you're there don't miss the vault! You can see what was the bank's old safe door with its many locks , and the experience ijn the small mirrored room is really phenomenal, a wonderful coda to the display.

This small museum has beautiful exhibits of Greek antiquities and is normally quiet and lovely. Entrance is down stairs in Olympic Towers public atrium.

I enjoyed the exhibit although it is small. It focused on african and spanish art in various media formats. I enjoyed... because it gave me a sense of NYC hip hop culture, 80s...and was thought provoking on various topics. The gift shop is an area that can be improved. They did not have some of the key exhibitors latest works (books) available. I highly recommend if you are the area... nominal fee/ donation accepted and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
