The tour guides were helpful and fun, and went above and beyond to ensure our trip went smoothly and helped us with several questions we had along the way. - Getaway6183142 contributionsTook the bus from Bethesda to New York, no problems, fast, efficient, everything went well. On our way back, the bus was not the one from the company, it was an “Academy Bus” the space between the seats was ridiculous, either there were 1.5 Dr between seats or barely half a ft. We ended up in one of the non space ones, you have to sit with your legs open to find comfort and try doing that for 4 hours! It was totally horrible. We sat uncomfortably the whole way back. I saw a few other people trying to lift their legs. I don’t know if this was done so more people can fit in but it’s terrible.

- L_A19 contributionsGetting the tickets and the coach there and back was fine, done this loads of times and well worth the trip. This time the only down point was the rudeness of the driver there, who spoke to me when I asked a simply question about my ticket, like I was the stupidest person alive. - terip10251 contributionIt claims entertainment but the TV screens never came on and if your phone is dead then you have no entertainment. It felt very bumpy and loud ride and we were burning up. The agent I spoke to over the phone when I called them was very helpful. She even helped me setup the whole event. I had multiple people working along the process but everything was made super easy for my office staff. My staff got the text messages when they arrive at EWR Newark Liberty Airport and I also got the text and email regarding each reservation. They were a little pricy but its worth every penny. - Drish C1 contributionThe bus would stop at each stop for only 5 mins not allowing you to order food at subway or burger king as all these places have line ups when you order. So basically was left without food for a 12 hour trip. Only one stop was 15 mins where there was vending machines that had only candy. - Paul L30 contributionsWe used this company twice while in New York, both times they exceeded our expectations! The smartest and most polite drivers you could ever hope to encounter.
Our drivers David & Michael, were brilliant! Both went out of their way to make sure two British visitors were looked after in the best possible way. Booking was straightforward, with any queries quickly responded to by the office. The cars were on time (early!) and spotlessly clean; you couldn't ask for a better service.

Plenty off room to move around on the trolley.

With Amtrak prices nearing $200/person we opted for the more affordable option and paid $25/person to take the express bus. And well, I guess you get what you pay for. The bus is AWFUL. It’s 41°F outside and there is NO heating. All of the armrests looks like the one pictured below. The climate control panel is missing over some seats. The driver was not pleasant at all. He started the trip by saying, “we do not make rest stops on this bus, I am a driver not a nanny. Our driver was super friendly and helpful, he had to wait for us for an hour as our flight delayed but without any extra charge. - ChmpgnroseNew York City, NY266 contributionsOne way from Orange County, NY to New York City I traveled alone on a ShortLine bus operated by Coach USA on a Sunday evening which is direct without rest stops or transfers. It was a restful ride without disturbance and the driver is experience with the route and the road. The driver takes NJ Garden State Parkway into Lincoln Tunnel. Since my journey was in the evening the driver turned off the lights enabling passengers to sleep or intake a phlegmatic meditation disposition before the beginning of a work week. It was a quiet journey without the standard MTA subway "showtime" or boisterously loud music blaring and passengers loudly muttering music lyrics and certainly no panhandlers walking throughout the bus. There is abundant room to store luggage or oversize baggage either overhead bins or exterior luggage compartment. "Two pieces of luggage will be accepted for transportation in the luggage compartment and one piece may be carried on the bus free of charge. ShortLine Coach USA reserves the right to limit and charge customers for additional pieces of luggage in peak periods. At this time a ticket will be issued and required on all additional baggage and a fee of $5.00 per piece on a space available basis will be in effect. Baggage is transported at the customer's risk; the company is not responsible for lost or damaged luggage, or its contents."
The bus schedule departure time frequency appears to run every hour or hour and half intervals which is frequent than New Jersey Transit. This is a great advantage as when one bus is missed to enable another opportunity without being too late into the evening. The company need to limit the number of tickets sold for seating capacity as the bus was nearly full to maximum occupancy.
