- Connector412290703994 contributionsWent on the boat tour in late November. It was a good experience with food and booze. We went around 2.00 pm and our tour began with the lunch. You get water and sweet tea included in the lunch, but if you want alcoholic beverages, you have to pay for them.
There is a audio playing through out the tour with all the history and talks about important places you can see on the sides of the river. You will share your waters with cargo ships and sometimes that could be intimidating.
Pros - you get to see the engine room of the boat which I found pretty cool. Food is good. There is a small gift shop if you want to buy souvenirs.
Cons - Before the tour begin, while you are waiting in the line, the captain or some one from the ship plays a steam piano. - SharonC8 contributionsThe tour was well organised. The Grey Lone bus was modern and comfortable with ports at the seat to charge mobile devices. Our guide was engaging, and our coach driver drove very smoothly. The grounds of Oak Alley are beautiful and the tour of the house was done very well. The swamp tour was interesting. I expected it was unlikely we could see alligators as it was hibernation season, but we saw the other animals of the swamp. Our tour manager Geoff was informative, entertaining, and serious and knowledgeable about burials and the paranormal. He is awesome at telling captivating stories, keeping the group safe, recommending the best drinks, and even takes time to get to know each person a little bit. Would definitely recommend this to people visiting New Orleans! The food was very good, although it would have been even better if assorted fruit was also available - melon, grapes, strawberries, pineapple.
