We tried a couple of times to make it to the top, the weather finally cooperated and we were able to make it to the summit. The views were amazing! Felt like we were on top of the world, and we only had to drive up! The Rangers at the gate gave advice and tips for driving. It was super easy as long as you followed directions. Really cool to see all the observation stations on the summit. It was very cold and windy on the summit. Bundle up! Definitely worth it in my opinion! Make sure to acclimate to the high altitude to avoid getting sick. We hiked a little on the summit and felt a little light headed. Be cautious!

Spectacular beach with white sand among rocks. Moderate difficulty to access water but sandy bottom with few rocks. Was great for swimming first day then surf was too high the next. That day got to watch some very skilled boogie boarders.

Led by Candee, tour was very informative and enjoyable. We learned about farming vanilla from start to finish and enjoyed the ice cream at the end. The shop has lots of items at good prices.

At first glance, this place looks like just another pile of black lava boulders. But don't be fooled! Pick up a map at the Visitors' Center, and hike the short trail. The trail is flat, but rocky, so wear good shoes and watch where you walk. You will discover petroglyphs, fish ponds, and historic buildings.

The trail opens onto a charming beach where you can wade in the crystal-clear water. If you see turtles (you probably will), please watch them from a respectful distance.

Very unique experience. Lasts about an hour. You see seahorses in various growth stages. You’ll get to hold one at the end for a few minutes.

Wish they had a private tour option.

I’d vote this my favorite beach. It’s tough, but the variety of rocks, sand, snorkeling and fewer people give this one the win for me. No showers or bathroom and it’s either a 2 mile or 3.5 mile one way unless your vehicle can drive down.

Absolutely stunning all the way around! I’d love to camp down here sometime! The two mile trek from the highway isn’t bad and it’s so worth it if that’s your only option, which was us.

Saw our first monk seal here! Just a really cool, beautiful place!

As with many beaches within city limits, there is really not much to write home about -pretty standard access, rocks and few homeless roaming around.

Our tour guide Dorin was full of energy and really made the tour. We enjoyed the tour a lot, especially tasting the different types of beer the Kona Brewing Company makes. We came back two days later to check out the restaurant.

The best thing about this beach is its location in Kailua-Kona close to lots of lodging, food, and activities. The water tends to be very rough here, and the beach is very small so it gets crowded easily. Even given that, it is a nice beach to spend a couple of hours and enjoy the beautiful water.
