Upon leaving the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii, I was told the museum would be closing for extensive upgrades, repairs, and enhancements probably until late December or into early 2023. So, check the website for updates. I just did and they closed February 12th.
The Army Museum is a short walk from all the major hotels in Waikiki. If you immerse yourself, it will take 2-3 hours. The history, culture, and exhibits presented are awesome. All they asked for was a donation.
You could definitely understand why upgrades are needed as the years have taken a toll on this once important fort. But, it shouldn’t stop anyone from a wonderful historical walk.
With the above said, I will return to see the modifications in 2023.
Anyone visiting Hawaii after the museum reopens, GO! I am sure it will be better.
I always count the Army and Bishop Museums as my must see, go to places on my trips to Waikiki / Honolulu.
