Group of 6 of us took a walk round the gardens and what is left of the castle. Although there isn't much to see the gardens are lovely and we managed to get a drink. The gift shop not being open let it down.

When younger I was always in the library and had my children join. We loved our visits but in later years stopped going as books got cheaper and easy to buy on line.
Joined again in January this year and love the availability and range of audiobooks I can download.
It’s an absolute gift and I am delighted to have rediscovered the library and all free.

Nice walk down to the Lough. The outdoor gym equipment was a good idea as was the biodiversity planted wildflower meadow and dog agility areas.

A fine example of an Irish Round Tower, this 28-metre tall structure, known locally as ‘The Steeple’ was built as part of a Monastic settlement around the 10th century. Currently, the interior is not open to the public, however, The local Council is currently consulting on opening up the tower, however, the tower is visible from the park it now sits in. The site is Free Entry, worth a look if you are in Northen Island!

There's a thin single lane leading to the carpark. There are two walkways. The left is OK but the right is much better. It's not a circular route so you walk back the way you came.

Beautiful, tranquil place. Walled garden, with ancient stone and numerous shrubs and vegetables. Excellent tea or coffee in charming surroundings. Outside seating ideal for warm days. Spacious lavatories available. A very relaxing visit. Plenty of parking.

Stunning views!!! Some great photo ops both early morning and late afternoon. The road is fairly steep leading down to the car park. You can drive past the car park on the narrow road but I would not recommend it. It is pretty narrow and when we tried to drive down it the road was out and closed. But there was no sign posted until we had gone about a 1/2 mile or so. Had to back out because there was no place where I could turn around our, an average size sedan. That was a little dicey. So just beware if you try to venture on past the car park in your car.

Superb morning out on Ram's Island on Lough Neagh.

We caught the Island Warrior passenger ferry from Sandy Bay Marina near Glenavy. We followed the map on the ramisland.org website and found it OK, though there's no sign on the marina to advertise the ferry. It run by friendly and knowledgeable volunteers who answered all my questions. Veronica cheerfully welcomed us the ferry and sorted us out with refreshments on the island.

The Island itself is wonderful. There's a green that was set up with the refreshments including scones and beverages. We got to meet some if the local chickens who live on the island and help out with biodiversity by eating the seeds of the invasive Himalayan Balsam.
There's a lovely little chalet there that can be rented, too.

We had a really interesting tour given by Kevin of the site of the ruins of the caretakers cottage, tower and summer house. We met some campers in a glade and heard about the wildlife that lives on the island.

There's a lot of tree cover and a interpretive centre on a barge should it be wet. We were lucky as it was warm and sunny today.

It was very sad to see so much algae in Loch Neagh. I really hope that something is done to tackle this as it must be extremely damaging to the life of Lough Neagh.

I'm from Northern Ireland but had never been here before. It's always lovely to discover beautiful, peaceful parts of my home country.

The volunteers are doing a wonderful job and really deserve to get more financial help from local government so they can continue to make Ram's Island accessible to the general public.

It's hard to find many reviews on the catering end of the information centre. I for one am a huge fan of their raspberry and white chocolate scones, I've never had better and one would easily do two people though have to admit I keep mine all to myself!! Great for either take away or sit in
