We got to the gate and purchased our tickets. It is a guided tour which you pay 30 extra pesos for. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and would answer any questions you would have. Interesting and very beautiful. Tour took approximately one and a half hour. Worth taking the tour so you can see his art and sculptures.

We went during the end of July and it was amazing. The weather was hot but the cold water was refreshing so it wasn’t too bad. It’s definitely a work out but once you get to the waterfall it’s worth it. On our way back we had the option to row back or swim, we decided to swim. Halfway back there was a stop at a cave with water that you can also swim at. They sell drinks and fruits there.

Recommendations: the gondola price includes the gondola and the guide, price is for the whole gondola and NOT per person. Since it was only 6 of us we asked another family to join us and split the cost. The rental includes life vest that are required to be worn at all times.

It's a simple spectacle, but an awe inspiring one. Not many people during the week, and the birds pouring in by the thousands as they return for the night.
I still don't understand why people hire a guide to bring them to the observation platform, it's just going down a very long flight of stairs. But each to its own, right?

This is a true hidden gem.

In just a few rooms you immerse yourself into the surreal world of Leonora Carrington, her work is impressive and this is so well curated.

Even if you are not fan of the art, being there will change you in some way.

This is a must if you are around!

Mountains, Forests, and landscapes of green are among my favorite things, add a waterfall and life is perfect to me. I am not normal. I would make this trip just for this waterfall. I don't recommend you do, most people would complain, "Is this it?" It's not it. For 25 pesos each, less than 2 bucks! The easiest trail to a waterfall I have EVER taken! You can't go swimming the pools at the bottom of the waterfall are not deep enough and it's surrounded by large rocks/boulders.

The view and sounds are picturesque in my opinion, kick off the shoes, relax on a rock, and wade in the fresh cool water. The experience is guaranteed to make a pleasant afternoon.

For those of you who like to live on the edge, apologies for it being the easiest trail you ever stroll, but they offer a 131 foot Rappel from the side of the waterfall for a mere 250.00 pesos, not even 15 bucks. Talk about chump change. If you prefer a vapor bath to purify your body the price tag is the same. What the hell do both!

All this can be done in two to three hours; to make it an all-day event make sure you arrive early and visit Las Pozas also known as El Jardin Surrealista de Edward James which will take up most of your time, just a few meters BEFORE this entrance. One day but two great experiences.

We spent a wonderful day with Sofia starting early morning before dawn to see the swifts and parakeets fly from their cave and then experienced Tamul waterfall. Sofia was great and I recommend taking a tour with her!
