What travellers are saying
- Olivia Hamilton-ThomasLondon, UK218 contributionsHave been coming to this beach for years, much quieter than other beaches on the coast as it’s a slightly longer walk to get to the shore, means there are less family’s and large groups. Lovely breeze with great view of the sunshine skyway. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare as there isn’t anyway designatedWritten September 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Olivia Hamilton-ThomasLondon, UK218 contributionsBusier beach on the island when weather is good but when you’ve got that much space it doesn’t feel as crowded as other beaches we’ve been to. Easier parking and so quiet when weather is overcast. Good for a beach runWritten September 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NomadLakewood Ranch, FL313 contributionsThis area lacks many of the convenient amenities of the more dominant “manatee beach” such as showers and food…but the lack of public bus access results in lower crowd pressure. The backdrop is the little bridge to long boat key.Written November 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Audrey Janet L1 contributionDespite the two hurricanes it was beautiful. We were pleasantly surprised. Not all restaurants are open, but will be soon. Sad to see the state of the two piers. So many trees were damaged in the two storms but the clear up was impressive.Written November 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Emma RLawton, OK384 contributionsCool spot. Read about the history of the jail. Great little place to stop and maybe catch lizards for little ones if they aren't too afraid!Written July 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Devries87Sharpsville, PA337 contributionsI love going here early in the morning and ordering a cold brew and a breakfast sandwich and enjoying the view. It is an open pier so may be a little sketch with little kids . They have a learning center at the end of the pier you can go in and look at a live camera from under the pier. Cool place . Must check it out atleast once if you’re staying on the island.Written June 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jon F5 contributionsBeautiful water and beach. Very busy for me. Anna maria island has public beach access every two blocks so the crowds are pretty disbursed.
The signs on the beach state no animals, you can totally disregard this as many dogs on the beach. Wish I knew this prior, I would have brought mine. So much for playing by the rules.
Restaurants pretty overpriced for what you get.
Condos vary in costs. We had a two bedroom for about 2500 for a week.
There was one similar next door that I almost booked for 5k. Shop around.Written July 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We hit Island Time bar and grill, good food/cocktails.Written March 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike FAntigo, WI596 contributionsGreat walk out to a beautiful view! People fishing, pelicans diving, nice breeze! Take the time to see this; just feels like coast life! Bridge st. is super cool, and the little bait shop here is worth a stop as well. Haven’t tried amob yet, but would love to!Written February 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SootsgdWimauma, FL3,334 contributionsWife’s best friend was visiting from her home in Tennessee so we took a day for beach time. The two’s last beach visit was in 2016 prior to our move to Florida and her move to TN.
My wife and I live on the SE portion of the Tampa Bay Area and we normally frequent Lido Beach on Lido Key in Sarasota. But my wife wanted to save that for another day and venture to Anna Maria Island. We stopped at Manatee Beach park where we have been a couple of times but not in a while. We had lunch prior to arrival and got to the beach a bit late around 2 PM. The weather was good, a bit overcast and windy, but the temps were a little above normal at about 82 degrees. Still the water was a bit cold for us older folks but there were plenty of kids in the water having fun and a few adults.
The sand is not as white or fine as lido but still it’s a good sand base not really rocky as other places. If you’re planning to bring a beach cart you’ll still have some “slogging” to do if you’re bringing a heavy load. We found our spot just by the volleyball courts and set up camp. We were visited by seagulls but they weren’t a nuisance just birds being birds and it was nice seeing them in the area. My wife and her friend used the time mainly for catch up and sunning. I took walks, got my feet wet, and collected some shells. Again, there was a good amount of people for a Thursday afternoon in November.
As far as the beach: there is a small store, a restaurant, changing booths, and bathrooms. The beach does have a lifeguard station so if you have smaller children or members of your group that aren’t strong swimmer that can be an item of consideration.
It’s a good place for fun in the sun especially if you have young children.
One postscript: this visit was approximately one month after Hurricane Milton but the damage from Milton at this point was minimal and had no impact on our visit .Written November 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Has offshoots several times to get good views of the bay. Had gravel, sand and boardwalk surfaces. Went on a nice day and took or time. Only criticisms I would make is that the trail could do with maps. It’s not a huge place or a big walk, but it would be helpful.Written February 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
