Located in the picturesque village of Baslow, this is an attractive church and churchyard next to the river.

    Free to access.

This is a great walk from Baslow up Bar Road and onto the foot path. It's uphill for a while on to the moor. Good footwear is recommended. The monument to commemorate the Duke of Wellington is a stone cross. It's an easy walk then to the Eagle Stone where ther are often Highland cattle. A little further brings you to a spectacular view overlooking the valley and here there are stone bowls carved into rocks I think originally to feed or water sheep.
This is Derbyshire and the weather ofcourse can be varied. Waterproofs and map recommended.

We parked adjacent to the Robin Hood pub in the National Trust car park which is pay and display jf you are not a member. The path is just a little way back up the road on the left.
It is steep in places and can be overgrown so waterproofs are recommended on a wet day.
Basically keep going uphill and you will see the monument on the top of the edge.
The view is very good over the valley. Behing the monument are the 3 ships, 3 large rocks bearing the names of ships.
    Well worth the walk.
