Affordable means of transportation from Herklion. Time allowed to visit each location was adequate. Trip was much longer than expected because of the length of time to pick up all participants. Actual time was 12 hours. Visit to the lake was unnecessary. No one swam or shopped. Only 1 restaurant available. Average food. Enjoyed the visit to Chania. Would rather spend more time touring there.

An absolutely unreal experience. The driver and tour guide were exceptional speaking English and also French. We started at a place called Argiropoulis for a small tour of their green area filled with trout/water/waterfalls and tavernas, then on to the local village where the grow avocados (shop there as well). The views are unreal. Lake Kournas for another 2.5 hours where you can rent a pedallo boat and go for a swim, see turtles etc then have some food/shop locally before they take you to an olive oil making factory. The entire trip started from our hotel at 0930 and we were back for 1730-1800. It was only £25 each return and it was the best money I have spent in a long, long time. Do not hesitate to book this tour - it is simply brilliant. Great knowledge from the guys, super friendly and very informative. We will definitely use again when we come back to Crete!

Firstly thank you very much to Michelle, she is a lovely lady who is a breath of fresh air, very welcoming whilst retaining her professionalism and helping us to make the great decision to go on The Cretan Safari Land Rover Experience. Thankyou Michelle it was so lovely to meet you.
We were a group of 5, made up of myself and my husband and a couple and their teenage daughter.
We had a really brilliant day. Themis, our guide and driver was an amazing guide, he was an excellent driver and such good fun.
He was very knowledgeable of the local areas and entertained us greatly.
Our highlights were, getting off the beaten track and going up really bumpy roads. Stopping at the villages and seeing the locals, and having a lovely tasty meal at a local village, he really looked after us well, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We recommend this trip to anyone who likes a bit of fun and adventure along with seeing some beautiful views along the way.
Thank you very much for such a wonderful time.

what a lovely little trip! we were only in crete for a short time and wanted to see as much of the island as possible, this helped us to do that. the views were absolutely stunning with so many photo opportunities and our guide was so helpful and knowledgeable. the lake was amazing, although i feel like it would have benefitted from having more time there as we felt very rushed and there wasn't enough time to do everything we wanted there

As other reviews mentioned, there is very little time to enjoy any of the three sites. Only 1.5 hours in Chania, not even enough time to explore the harbor or old town, or even try a hop on hop off bus to get a bit of a tour of the city. I wish there was an option for a day trip to Chania only. A bus ticket return is $30 Euros so we thought for the extra 20 it would be worth it. I would have liked 4-5 hours in Chania. Lake Kournas was beautiful. I also wish we had more time here, and that we explored before heading straight to the restaurant. The restaurant was very busy, full of tour bus people like it was the only place. Service was overwhelmed and couldn't handle the rush. When we finally paid, we only had 15 minutes to walk down to the lake. Water was gorgeous. Lots of shops and lake front restaurants, wish we had gone down first. The lake is definitely worth visiting. Rhythemno was also nice, but after Chania and the Lake it was anticlimactic. It also may have been that it was a long day, but the harbor and town center is very similar to Chania and Heraklion and we had 1.5 hours only here as well. I know tour guides want to pack as much as possible into a day, but it would be nice if we could actually have some time to explore and enjoy the cities. My advice would be to take the city bus or rent a car and explore Chania on your own. Greece is a very safe country to go get lost in

This was a very worthwhile day trip. The bus was very comfortable, the driver George and guide, Maria, were very friendly and knowledgeable. The towns are charming, the stop at the lake was a welcome break in the long drive back to Herakleon. They provided a sack lunch, which was a surprise treat. If you have limited time in Crete, this is a great way to see the sites.

Angie at Your Cretan Local was such a wonderful tour guide. We experienced a great day exploring Crete. I was travelling with my Mum who has walking constraints and Angie adapted our tour to cater to her mobility and our interests.

I would not hesitate to recommend this experience, when in Crete get in touch with Angie!!!

It is a stunning city, I of the most beautiful I have seen in the Mediterranean in all the countries I have been, the market is very large but sell fruits, veg, spices, herbs etc not tacky clothes etc & the people on the stalls are generous, helpful & chatty eg we bought & paid for the 3 fruits we wanted and they called us back & gave us 2 other fruits for free, we visited the harbour & old town, which was bigger than we thought & the famous lighthouse. The whole town is tidy & the water crystal clear. As regards Kournas Lake, it’s a bit of a steep walk down & back but a cafe if you want to sit & look at the view for a while

The trip was nice. Beautiful stops. Good information from the guide. Enough time at every stop.
Best stop was Kournas lake. Beautiful!
One fotostop at the George was cancelled because of the hard wind.
The only negative thing is that I thought that I had read that the trip would be done with a max of 15 people. That's why I chose this company.
But this was a bus full. May be over 60 people. So that was disappointing. Ofcourse there is a possibility that I did not read right. :(

The trip takes us through the best showpieces of Crete. Katrina who was the Guide was a fund of knowledge and could show every interesting place with a captivating narration. The Chania, Rhythimno are picture-post-card places, charming, historical and stylish.
