What travellers are saying
- Tour5600212 contributionsI have been coming here for a few years (interrupted by covid) from London. Step off at Guarulhos, dedicated Uber stand, 2 hours later you are here (£50 - in London that gets you 10km!). Rarely see gringos here, rarely speak English. I guess a bit of a struggle if you don't speak portugués or have a Brsileiro/a with you. I like it for the beach. Normally spotless. Animals not allowed! I guess 4km - a few hundred people during the week; a few thousand at weekends (pesky São Paulo conurbation with it's 23M people 120Km away); even more at peak/carnival etc. Food isn't brilliant - a smattering of good food; 2 very good restaurants with Pauloesque prices. Nightlife (er, eu sou um velho) probably confined to a couple of bars in the season/at weekends. I don't but gentle surfing is always here.Written April 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rhoni EDesert Hot Springs, CA38 contributionsThe beach is clean and quiet. No boom boxes and only a few restaurants with beach service at the far end in town. The modern houses and small hotel have some foliage so you are not as aware that their are low buildings that border the beach. Of the beaches that I have visited during my 20 years of Brazil travel, without driving extra hours from my destination, I enjoy it here with the rolling green mountain vistas and clean soft sand.Written September 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David SPraia Grande, SP290 contributionsLong beach ideal for watersports....the sea is not ideal for non swimmers or children, however there are many affordable places to stay behind the town that have swimming pools....beach area has good restaurants mainly seafood and the end of town to the north is better for low to mid range eats...Written April 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We spent New Year's eve here and the beach was not too packed during the day. On NYE itself, the beach was packed but not overcrowded and the fire works were impressive. This beach offered a truly local experience and nice reprieve from the hustle & bustle of Rio and Sao Paulo.Written January 6, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wellington_OPMogi das Cruzes, SP35 contributionsIt is best to arrive in the morning in the summer. It is a condominium with many summer houses so the beach is a little crowded in the summer.Written February 4, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roberto FabricioSao Paulo, SP145 contributionsVery nice, with beautiful vegetation and clear sands and water. Watch out for the strong waves and some people that use sound boxes.Written December 1, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jhurbinaAlbuquerque, NM38 contributionsThis location is not easy to get to, out of the way, and mostly filled with locals and people who live close by. This is where they go to the beach.
Natural shade is a luxury at the beach, and this clean and beautiful spot has lots of shade from trees as well as several vendors who do have wireless ability to use a credit card for your purchases of local eats. Shrimp, mussels, pastéis, all fresh, lovely, and reliable eats along with cold beverages as well. If you bring your own bottles, plan to pack them out, and people do bring their own food and supplement it with locally prepared eats for the perfect fast and light beach visit. Chairs are available close to kiosks, and there are also tables as well, although one might have to be there early to stake one’s claim, and recognize that the local proprietors appreciate paying clients there.
Nice music, a place to shower, and shade made this an ideal spot. The road is a bit bumpy and made of bricks that aren’t even and parking is a bit of a bear as is getting close to the entrance when full. Taking a cab was a bit pricey from Maresias compared to what we had been spending on Über in São Paulo and took some time to get to us as they had to drive from a bigger town to get us, but it was definitely worth it.Written December 28, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It looks and feels like a tropical lost island with its palm trees and blue sea. it is hidden from the general public most of the times but quite easy to access. Warning: take a good repelent with you if you wish to stay till late.Written February 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
