- Julia @Scrumptious SolentSouthampton, UK4,381 contributionsBit of a steep trek up to the top (and path is rocky so avoid doing it after it’s rained!) - but do worth it for the views. We loved our short visit. Walking along the waters edge and climbing the tower.Written September 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marshall BFerney-Voltaire, France4,581 contributionsDefinitely worth a short hike and visit - several parking spots are possible depending on how long you want to walk. On the way you pass some photogenic vineyards and ruins - the road is well marked but rather narrow at times but not dangerous - just watch when you go around bends in the road. The parking closest to the chapel and cemetery handles perhaps 30 cars. It is true that there is some repair work underway on the path up, also on the walls, but it should not hinder most people - but on a hot day, if you are rushing up to get into the chapel before its midday closing time of 1220, the hike, which climbs about 100 meters in altitude, should not to be taken lightly. And beach shoes are definitely not appropriate unless your ankles are in superb shape and you don’t mind walking on irregularly-shaped rocks. But this is all logistics - and once you pass by the moving monuments to sailors lost at sea, and the paintings and models of ships that went down in the sea, you should be pleased that you made the effort to get there. But do check the opening and closing times and dates - while there is a great panoramic view at the chapel level, it is more enjoyable to see it during a visit to the chapel.Written August 12, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RoedigStellenbosch, South Africa1,267 contributionsThis nature reserve is vast. I guess 30 by 10 kilometers. You can walk from St. Pierre, Narbonne Plage, or Gruissan. The walks all inter lead, so start and use your sense to follow the coast line or go any circular route. At worst you can always head towards the sea and walk back. The vineyards, forests and cliffs bring out the beauty of nature. It is relaxing to walk any length that suits you.Written August 16, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dima DLondon, UK845 contributionsSecond visit to this cozy and beautiful winery. First time we actually came to see Pierre Richard who can be seen here weekly. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Presentations of wine are good and I like this type of wine anyway. Tastings are nice you as you can choose your wine. Price is ok for the wine. Gets busy in July and August. Movie theatre. Groups welcome. Free entrance.Written August 8, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Marshall BFerney-Voltaire, France4,581 contributionsThere really is a daily market that you can go to in one of the Gruissans (Plages des chalets, Village, or Port), not to mention the daily fish market and the nightly crafts market (July and August). All required masks (during covid restricted period). The brochure available at the office of tourism is vital, and free!Written August 20, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elvira VDKessel-Lo, Belgium33 contributionsWe took the one-hour guided tour in French of the Salin de Gruissan and can highly recommend it. We learnt a lot about salt production. Thank you! The kids enjoyed filling their little paper bag with locally produced salt at the end of the tour. The views all across were magnificent. The only downside is the size of the group. Quite large and the wind makes it hard to understand the guide at all times. Maybe consider a microphone?Written August 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Julia @Scrumptious SolentSouthampton, UK4,381 contributionsLovely long beach with a promenade at the back and a range of restaurants and bars. Perfect place on a sunny day. Plenty of free parking nearby. No umbrellas or sun beds

More ancient history is also featured, with reconstructed structures and informative panels. There are several ways to get to the top - parking is available very close to the rue des casemates, but the walk up stairs beside the Gruissan Cave building is perhaps the one that offers the nearest access from the Port area. Best to go in clear weather and before it gets too hot.Written August 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nigel WAgde, France624 contributionsA delightful, colourful little 13 th century church, colourful and reminiscent in many ways of (although smaller than) the church of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, it was originally fortified. The layout is unusual and shows its maritime affiliation from centuries back. It is well worth doing a Wikipedia search before you visit the church and also the castle above it in this very old part of Gruissan.Written February 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain22,445 contributionsÉglise Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption is a little church located in the center of the old town, close to the main tower, of Gruissan, a tiny fisher town in the South of France. It is located near upstairs to go up to the tower. It is a church built in the Middle Ages, which is small, not more.
