Nice place to visit although the beach is small there are grassy areas to set up for the day in good weather.
The water is shallow and good for toddlers.
There are clean washrooms along the lakeside and plenty of benches and picnic tables.
Lovely way to spend a day.

We stayed over May long weekend 2021.  This campground has power only sites, but there is a sani dump and for a $5 fee it can be used as many times during your stay as needed. There is also an area to fill your water tank at the sani dump. During our stay showers were closed due to Covid.

We stayed in site 10 which is right beside the washrooms that had four separate enclosed flush toilets with running water. There are many places throughout the campground that have drinking water taps, one was located right beside our site as well.

All sites have trees/bushes between them but most of them you can see right into the campsite behind/in front of you. There are a few rows that don't have sites on the other side and those ones seems much larger too.  There is a newer area to the right when you arrive and those sites are larger without sites directly behind but they are quite open with not much tree coverage. That newer looking area only has outhouses, no flush toilets.

There is a row of sites that are near the lake but access to the lake is not good and there is no beach. You basically have to climb down the side of the hill and you might be lucky to find an area to sit. You can walk along a path and there are viewing area with benches but you are high up and not near the water but it is a lovely view, especially at sunset.

Many people set up games alongside their site on the road because most sites are not quite big enough to play games in.

There are two kids parks, one right when you come in and the other in the newer part of the campground.

Wood can be purchased for $10 a bag, there are about 10 pieces in the bag. You can also purchase ice where you check in.

We enjoyed our stay, and were pleasantly surprised by the lack of bugs during this time. We very much enjoyed walking the forest paths in the evenings. It would have been much more enjoyable if we could have used the showers, doesn't make sense how it's ok to use toilets but not to clean up in a shower.

Easy to find as it is right on the lake but if you come on Farmer's Market Day their parking lot is reserved for the market so parking might be more challenging. Changed since we last went; now is an inflatable aqua park. Mat going to the aqua park is great but there is a bit of a gap so you should know how to swim. At around $18/hr, it is reasonable for an hour's activity. Looked like fun! Lots of spots for parents to watch from a distance or to picnic. There are change rooms but they are hard to find, unfortunately. All in, fun day!

It doesn't take an expert to figure out that Alberta is a landlocked province and therefore it doesn't have any "real" beaches. However Sylvan Lake offers the closest to an actual beach experience without having to fly out of the province. The town, and specifically the downtown/beachfront area, truly convey the feeling of a true beach town including amenities such as watersport rentals, coffee shops and bars with open patios, a long promenade along the beach, etc. Even people walking around in swimwear!

It does get very busy so plan accordingly.

The gang there at the woodshed really take care of you with a warm welcome and a lesson to get you started. Someone is available the entire time to answer questions or joke around with. Definitely lots of fun to bring a couple friends down and get some drinks and throw some axes!

I have been to Sylvan Steam and Spa numerous times and I always receive great service from the moment I step in the door. The spa itself is very nice- new, modern, tastefully decorated. The prices are also very reasonable here.

The food is excellent tasting but sometimes takes a long time to get your food. Servers are always pleasant. I have never been in the lounge.

I went to Sylvan Lake to enjoy Canada day with friends. I saw the rentals on the side of the walkway and thought why not ? The owners were very friendly and I was happy to choose them. Great prices and great location. Kayaks are available for both adults and children.
