- Bohemian_me84Calgary, Canada2,064 contributionsSylvan lake it’s cute . But what I have learned … don’t go on the weekend , full of people , intoxicated students drinking in the park and being loud … and many many people everywhere . Lake line it’s very pretty , cute little
Shops and cafes . For dog owners there is lots of space for walks and many poop bag disposing areas . Water at the shore is shallow with areas for people to enjoy . Over all cute ! Go in Monday !Written July 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Changed since we last went; now is an inflatable aqua park. Mat going to the aqua park is great but there is a bit of a gap so you should know how to swim. At around $18/hr, it is reasonable for an hour's activity. Looked like fun! Lots of spots for parents to watch from a distance or to picnic. There are change rooms but they are hard to find, unfortunately. All in, fun day!Written August 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bohemian_me84Calgary, Canada2,064 contributionsIt’s a cute little place , there is many people on the streets specially in this season , it’s full specially on the weekend . But Monday wasn’t bad . Cute little cages and ice cream stores . Walk to the lighthouse it’s lovely specially along the lake shore . You might have to park on the side road as Main Street is always packed :)Written August 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We stayed over May long weekend 2021. This campground has power only sites, but there is a sani dump and for a $5 fee it can be used as many times during your stay as needed. There is also an area to fill your water tank at the sani dump. During our stay showers were closed due to Covid.
We stayed in site 10 which is right beside the washrooms that had four separate enclosed flush toilets with running water. There are many places throughout the campground that have drinking water taps, one was located right beside our site as well.
All sites have trees/bushes between them but most of them you can see right into the campsite behind/in front of you. There are a few rows that don't have sites on the other side and those ones seems much larger too. There is a newer area to the right when you arrive and those sites are larger without sites directly behind but they are quite open with not much tree coverage. That newer looking area only has outhouses, no flush toilets.
There is a row of sites that are near the lake but access to the lake is not good and there is no beach. You basically have to climb down the side of the hill and you might be lucky to find an area to sit. You can walk along a path and there are viewing area with benches but you are high up and not near the water but it is a lovely view, especially at sunset.
Many people set up games alongside their site on the road because most sites are not quite big enough to play games in.
There are two kids parks, one right when you come in and the other in the newer part of the campground.
Wood can be purchased for $10 a bag, there are about 10 pieces in the bag. You can also purchase ice where you check in.
We enjoyed our stay, and were pleasantly surprised by the lack of bugs during this time. We very much enjoyed walking the forest paths in the evenings. It would have been much more enjoyable if we could have used the showers, doesn't make sense how it's ok to use toilets but not to clean up in a shower.Written May 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 2014JandyCalgary, Canada7,969 contributionsWe visited Sylvan Lake and walked through this small park out to the lighthouse.
It’s a great view over the lake which was frozen when we visited. There are benches along the path that leads you round the lighthouse.
There is information about the lighthouse too here.Written March 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a small car park and seasonal basic washrooms.

There seems to be a special connection with mermaids in Sylvan Lake and it is their official symbol.
This statue is actually a fountain but as it was March it wasn’t switched on but still worth taking a look if you are visiting the area.Written March 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My kids aged 9 & 15 had a fun time on the go karts, a ride lasts about 5 minutes and is $12. For $13 you can get a double kart that fits a child and adult, or there are kiddie karts for $8.50. My 9 year olds helmet was way too big on her which distracted her for her ride which was too bad, it kept falling to the back of her head it was so big.
There is also bumper cars and mini golf.Written July 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
