    Avoid this tour
    This was a terrible tour. The company really embellishes what they offer. First of all, we were picked up in Quito at 5 in the morning (as we expected) but in a small pick-up for 4 of us by a non English speaking driver. The driver had his own construction materials in the back and this is where we put our luggage. The trip to the resort takes 5 hours from Quito.
    It was a nightmare. The ride was so rough and the little truck so crowded that between potholes and twisty roads I was completely car sick and actually missed the activities of the first day due to nausea. It was a completely inappropriate form of transportation for us. The resort itself was nice, the accommodations and staff good but the tour by Viator was horrible. Do not get this tour. The people traveling with me said the planned activities that followed were very overblown. We could not take the night walk because of rain, the day time jungle walk and boat cruise were very mediocre. Finally, read carefully because you do not get returned to Quito. If you want to go back, you can take a regional bus (!) or pay as we did, something like $60 each for four of us- yes, $240 to return to Quito. At least this was an SUV. I’m not prone to motion sickness but the ride there was like something from a horror movie. I’ve taken other Viator tours prior to this and felt they were also a bit disappointing from what was described. I should have learned! Bottom line, I never take another Viator tour and if you’re wise, neither will you.

    Great tour company! Don't worry, be happy!
    Just came back from a half day tour going to the Pimpilala waterfalls and the Laguna Azul.

    Gregory, our guide, was fantastic and thankfully spoke very good English, since our Spanish is not very good. He was very knowledgeable, and really managed to tell us a lot about the local area, the people, and their traditions. It was an enjoyable day overall and well worth the money.

    We sincerely appreciated Gregory and his coworkers, who helped us over the rocks, through the river, up the cascade, and back down again.

    I have a bit of a back problem and they were aware of it, so they took extra care to make sure that I was safe.

    They were very accommodating, changing plans at the last minute for us. Originally we were going to take a longer walk after the waterfall to see a more secluded lagoon, but because they could see I was having mobility issues after the first hike they suggested we go to the Blue lagoon instead.

    While the Laguna Azul is a little more touristy it was absolutely fine with us for a nice dip at the end of the day. We went to one of the upper pools and had it all to ourselves. Then they took the other two girls for a walk down by the river well I relaxed in a hammock with a much needed cerveza.

    The pickup and drop off at our Airbnb went perfectly. They even went out of their way and took us to a couple of stores on the way home.

    We all had cameras, but they also took lots of pics. We exchanged contact info and they will be forwarding them to us. I'm sure they've got some great ones that we didn't have the opportunity to take while we were in the water.

    Another thing I found impressive was that the business owner followed up with me almost immediately after we were dropped off to see if we enjoyed ourselves. In fact, communication throughout was great.

    I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any trips I wanted to take in Tenna.

    Awesome accessible adventure!
    My business, Senior Travel Companion Serviecs, LLC, involves taking seniors and disabled individuals on trips. I brought Elizabeth to Ecuador and the Galapagos to experience the flora and fauna she craved. Our tour guide, Latin America for All, arranged a rafting trip with AquaExtreme and it was the highlight of our trip! Danny and Giovanni strapped Elizabeth's chair to the raft, gave her a paddle, and we spent the afternoon safely navigating easy and class 3 rapids and enjoying the beautiful Napo river. The shore lunch was terrific as well. In the safety kayak, Giovanni entertained us with tricks and in our raft, while Danny identified what we were seeing, as well as comfortably guiding us down the river. Elizabeth is unable to walk on her own, but on that special day, she had the adventure of a lifetime!

    Active Expeditions, is extremely knowledgeable in the culture, flora, fauna, geography, history & everything else related to Ecuador. To have a guide that truly cares about his guests and aspires to ensure the greatest experiences for everyone is what made our trip even better. Every moment was more than what we had expected.     Ecuador Highlights - Best of the Best!
    My Ecuador trip with Adventure Journeys exceeded my expectations in all respects! Alfonso Freire, tour guide, was absolutely the best! He was super knowledgeable about everywhere we went (Ecuador guides have tour university degrees). He identified the different indigenous groups we encountered and what makes each unique (in fact, he is a member of a professional dance group that performs native South American dances). Alfonso's total attention was on making my trip special --- plus he was patient with me during our hikes in high altitudes even though he never even got winded (he's qualified for all types of sport activities and guide certifications).

    This trip's itinerary provides a great cross-section of Ecuador including a visit to an Otavalo indigenous village, a few days in the Amazon rain forest with a Kichwa community tour (learned how they make chocolate), climbed an incredible waterfall, visited the famous 'Swing of the End of the World' in Banos, hiked near the Chimborazo volcano, visited Inca ruins, and ended with a tour of Cuenca, a colonial city, etc.

    Hotels were all clean and satisfactory with the Hacienda La Andaluza being a highlight (it's like an art museum - outstanding). This was my first trip to South America and the people are so warm and gracious - everyone goes the extra mile to provide superior service. I also found the tour registration process very efficient. And when I had questions, I always received a written response by the next day. Finally, this is a longer review than my norm, but I can't emphasize enough how pleased I was with my Adventure Journeys trip. It checked all the boxes in every way!! My strong recommendation - sign up!! Tx L

    Great tour, highly recommend
    This was a fantastic tour! My husband and I have traveled a lot in the past 3 years and this was definitely the best trip we have had yet! Every day was filled with adventure and somehow better than the day before. All the accommodations and food was great and a unique experience. Our guide Alirio was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this trip and requesting him as your guide.

    You need to do this!
    An unbelievable experience in the Amazon Jungle in Ecuador! Our guide Chris literally knew everything about the rivers we paddled and the jungle! An easy adventure that is full of once in a lifetime experiences! The beautiful colors of the flora and fauna were just stunning. My 72 year old wife was hesitant about the adventure but once it started she loved it! The people of Ecuador were so friendly and treated us wonderfully! Anything you wanted to know or needed Chris was there with an answer and ready to help you! A five star adventure that even a beginner to an experienced paddler would love!

    17+3 wonderful days exploring almost all Ecuador
    It was a last moments trip, booking a few days ahead of deparure day. Thought i was going to join a group but turned out to be a private trip... Much better, and due to good luck and my hunter for perfection guide, Esteban, everything went perfect! Giving me the opportunity, with the extra 3 days extension, and new guide Renato, to enjoy almost all the beauties of Ecuador. Many places to see, lots of different activities, some of them very demanding, meeting different people, knowing more about the country. A trip that has it all.... Very well organized, and since i was alone i had the opportunity to make adjustments according to my wish. The only dissapointment was the bad weather at the day of visiting Cotopaxi volcano. Snowing on August, climbing Cotopaxi, a unique experience ...

    Amazing 4 day tour in Ecuador!
    We had a wonderful time on this four day tour around Ecuador. The itinerary going into the trip sounded amazing, but it surpassed our expectations! Our tour guides and drivers were incredible (shoutout Ernesto and Josue), and really went out of their way to tailor the experience to what we were looking for. We loved staying at local spots that gave back to the community and its people. It was a wonderful experience learning about the history of Ecuador. Ernesto was amazing and did a great job educating us about his culture and country while also taking us to some of his favorite local spots, which happened to be our favorite experiences and meals of the trip! We can’t recommend this tour enough and would love to come back to Ecuador and work with this group for future travels!!

    An excellent agency
    We had a 17 day private tour arranged through Latin Adevtnures and can highly recommend. Dante was very helpful in coordinating things before and reassured us greatly with his relaxed approach when the strikes temporarily put the trip up in the air. Our team, Diego (guide) and Celfides (driver), took great care of us and showed a real passion and joy for making the trip a great success. We toured all over the country and the detailed itinerary made the most of the trip with well chosen hotels and extras we ll. Ecuador is a stunning country that is still so under the radar, no Galapagos required to enjoy!

    Ecuador , amazing Kingdom of roses !
    When I arrived in Ecuador I had almost no idea about what meaning it.
    I have been very lucky,my tour guide was Pedro and he transformed my trip in an unforgetable adventure.
    From hiking to Cotopaxi base and Quilotoa lagoon to amazonian jungle , from City tours în Quito ,Cuenca and Guayaquil to End of the world swing în Banos , from tasting in local market borojo and grilled porc to drink artizanal beer in a very special place, from dancing salsa on the street to enjoy the famous ecuadorian roses .
    Pedro is one of the best guide I ever met , he really loves his jobe , he puts passion in everything he does and he can show hidden gems of Ecuador.
    I highly recommande Pedro , he can make the difference between an ordinary trip to a lifetime experience .

    An amazing experience in the Andes and Amazon
    This trip was amazing! Christian was fantastic to coordinate with before we left Canada. We really appreciated that the guides helped us get our PCR tests back before going back to Canada. Diego was amazing; it felt like traveling with a friend. He was delightful to spend time with an cannot recommend him/ this tour enough. He was incredibly knowledgable about local history, culture, and animals/ plants. He was enthusiastic about the activities and the things we say. He had an amazing sense of humour and went above and beyond to ensure our trip was perfect. He was reliable, professional and a pleasure to spend time with. The Andes were beautiful and we really enjoyed hiking there and the Amazon was an amazing environment. We saw lots of cool animals/ birds, including an Andean fox. I encourage anyone wanting an experience both in the Andes and Amazon to book this tour. Thanks for an amazing time!
