- Bryan T17 contributionsThis museum is of a standard well beyond its' small town location. It offers interpretations from several perspectives of the events of the 1885 resistance /rebellion. It has sections on the 1885 events, the white and Metis settlers and the original First Nations inhabitants. The explanations are clear and stated in a headline fashion while the accompanying text fleshes out the details for those who wish to delve deeper. I am a student of the Riel era and found the exhibits accurate and even handed. The venue is clean and the views from the tower are superb. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Suitable for all ages and levels of interest, it is a MUST addition for any visitor exploring the history of this area. As a small town venture, it merits and deserves support !!Written September 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nek USaskatoon, Canada12 contributionsI should start with a warning: MOSQUITOES, OH MY LORD MOSQUITOES! We stayed at the campground and ended up shortening our trip as they were quite unbearable. They ease up during the day for the most part, and walking in and out of buildings definitely helps.
With that out of the way… the Fort itself is amazing! There’s incredible attention to detail in the displays, and you’re given a great overview of the history of the area. The interpreters and staff here were an absolute standout, their passion for the history was infectious, and they were very patient with my groups endless questions.
I highly recommend you try your luck in the escape room, and try to catch the Fort Carlton by Candlelight tour, both were great!Written July 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The museum itself is quite small but has an impressive collection of RCMP uniforms and equipment. There was no cost to enter the museum but they do take donations.Written July 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
