Amazing experience. The museum is very well balanced between important facts on the sea, the climate, research and the fish and then the possibility of seeing the animals as well.
Very educational without getting too boring about dos and donts.
We bought tickets online and received a link with the audio guide in English. Brilliant idea

A very impressive building in the Old Market Square of this Hanseatic League city. The eye is clearly drawn to this special architecture. I found it intriguing, however, that many of the other buildings in the square were nowhere near as interesting. Compared to the squares in some of the big Belgian cities this square was rather drab in comparison. Was this due to the ravages of WW2?

Visiting this was a fun and interesting experience. It was interesting to see how fish are caught and to see the equipment. But none of the labels and signs were in English and we couldn't understand anything
The aquarium was fun to see. There were ordinary fish, exotic fish and other sea creatures like crabs. Before the aquarium, there were stuffed creatures that were intriguing to look at. Although the aquariums were definitely more pleasant to see, the museum offered a lot of information. The museum was large and had lots to see.
It's advised to buy the oceanarium and museum tickets together as they both offer similar experiences and sights. The oceanarium has signs in English and is easier to understand. The walk between the buildings also isn't very long.
The parking was well organized. Signs in the city pointed to the parking place and they were easy to follow.

A very grand structure with an excellent pipe organ. If really enthusiastic and fit you can climb the multiple stairs up to the bell tower. Otherwise just spend 20 mins or so walking around at ground level and admire the works of art and very high roof.

Quite an impressive new bridge that joins the island of Rügen with the mainland. It's quite high so you get quite a good view both of the town of Stralsund to the south and the southern coast of Rügen. It was built to complement the much older Rugia causeway which runs parallel but much lower to the east below this one.

It's a so-called cable stay bridge & was completed in 2007. It's over 4 km in length and has a three-lane highway. We didn't see anywhere to stop on the bridge to take photos and admire the views which was a pity - but then, this is a transport item...

By the way, owing to its height it can be seen from quite a distance including the Stralsbund harbour and some way onto the island.

I would say that Nikolaikirche, hidden behind tenements houses, that along with Rathaus creates southern frontage of Stralsund's Alter Markt, is the most beautiful church in the city. Its two towers with whitewashed niches really catches attention. The contrast between white plaster of the niches and redness of the brick is truly pleasant. Baroque helm of the southern tower causes a certain dissonance in the silhouette of the church, but only mild one. St. Nicholas of Myra's Church is also the oldest of the three major parish churches of the city of Stralsund, and was dedicated in year 1279. Originally, Nikolaikirche was planned to be one tower hall church and city council's church. This mean, that church was not only the place of worship, but also place where city's board meetings were held, along with receiving ambassadors, announcing laws and regulations, handling legal cases and preserving city archives, but with growing wealth of Stralsund's denizens still unfinished church was, after 1270, rebuilt as a basilica. Around the end of 13th century, the city council made decision about building two towers in place of one. All this delayed completing the church that was finished, finally, probably near the end of 15th century. The wealth of Stralsund's citizens was also reflected in numbers of church's altars. At the peak of Stralsund's power, St. Nicholas' Church could boast no less than 56 altars in the chancel, nave, and between buttresses of the nave. Unfortunately, most of them were removed from the church after the introduction of Reformation in 1525. Again, unfortunately, we weren't able to see church's interior on the day of our visit. Pity, because I'd heard that there's a lot to see like Buchholtz's Organ, High Altar from 15th century, Baroque main altar, the altar of the Bergen traders, sculpture of Virgin and Child with St. Anne or Charisius Chapel just to mention few. Guess we will have to pay Stralsund another visit. Which is fine by me.

It is a small live museum. The playing cards are still made in the factory. The guide explains and operates the machineries as he goes. Worth a short visit.

Spectacular building at Alter Markt. This Gothic building is one of the most beautiful in the market square. There is a restaurant in the building.

The zoo of Stralsund is nothing special but admission is just 5 euro and there are some nice things to see. Apart from the standard animals you will see in a zoo they also have some local farm animals.
Like I said, not the most spectacular attraction in the world but if you want to give the kids some nice time, this is a good place.
