What an amazing building. It is beyond belief that something like this could be built so long ago. We went to Mass there and there was a first communion. It was truly special. One of the many reasons to visit Orvieto

An amazing structure and worth the trip down and back up the other side-250 stairs down and the same coming up the other side The stairs are very wide and low and there is plenty of room for people to pass if you need a break,I have a bad knee so went at my own pace rested at the bottom and a slow trip back up.So glad I didn't pass it up as it is unique. It is included on The Orvietto card which was good value if you are staying a few days and have time and interest in visiting all the sights(20 Euro each)

We took the 3:15 tour in English - tickets are purchased at the Tourist Info office, across the street from the Duomo. (Not the office for tickets to the Duomo, the one next door). From your gathering spot outside the ticket office, the tour guide will lead you to the locked entrance. The views to the south are beautiful. You can take photos once underground, but no videos. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed learning more about the Etruscans and Romans

My family just returned from a trip to Italy, and this wine tasting was easily one of our favorite experiences. The tasting and tour of the property, including the vineyard and Etruscan caves (used to age the wine), was led by Angelica. She was great -- so welcoming, kind, and very intelligent. We loved learning about the history of the land, the wine making process, and the different types of grapes they grow. The tasting took place in a beautiful repurposed church, and in addition to the wines, we were able to sample bread, meats, and cheeses all from local vendors. Amazing from start to finish -- will recommend to all visiting the area!!

We added this to our other Orvietto underground tours, they are all different and we enjoyed this one very much.It is self guided which suits us and there were plenty of information points explaining the history ect along the way (in english) Only 2.50 Euro reduced entry (65+) which is very reasonable There were stairs but nothing strenuous .The gift shop at the end sells lovely hand made pottery and other items.Good to add to your Orvietto experience

I don't know much about what I saw but it wouldn't encourage me to join the church! Well worth seeing from an artistic perspective and a memory which will live with me (for better or worse) for some time.

Leon and his family run a wonderful winery. The property is beautiful, well managed and the vino, OUT of this world. Well with the time and this is the First time we have ordered wine to ship home (and from Italy no less)

Treat yourself to a wonderful afternoon at this property and it’s only 10 minutes outside Cortona.

    Bravo Leon!

Orvieto was the first hill town we visited. We eagerly climbed the tower. The stairs are easy to navigate though there are many of them to reach the top. The view is 360 and totally worth the climb.

A return visit to Orvieto we liked it so much. Great restaurants; the unbelievably beautiful cathedral, hard to describe to someone who has not been there.

The duomo is wonderful and the two inner chapels are simply breathtaking. It is worth buying a combined ticket that allows you to go to several places for free. Exception is the archaeological museum, unfortunately. You should not miss the funicular, the easiest and most interesting way to get to the centro storico. The best porchetta is available at Il Negozietta, 5,5.- Euro with truffle cheese.

Call ahead! Just a few minutes from Orvieto, this gorgeous property is a gem! Their wines are delicious and Andre was very kind and knowledgeable. An amazing learning experience. You can also choose a tasting with charcuterie. I highly recommend!!

We were encouraged by hotel staff to visit this end of town for it's vista and this medieval church, one the oldest in Umbria. The frescoes and entire church are a walk through history. A must see and as another review said a stark contrast to the Duomo.
