“ An Cailín Ciúin”
Almost all local groups & friends in the audience with special interest in Irish Film. The theatre provides a very intimate cinema experience. It was a very special evening which I don’t think even attending the Oscars could have surpassed!
Tech Amergin is at the edge of Europe but provides an excellent range of artistic experiences from film, theatre, music, dance, art exhibitions & also a range of classes & activities throughout the year. A gem beautifully located amongst the mountains & the sea.Written November 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Waterville is a cute little town that had a few lunch choices. The beach is right off of the road past the park. The park has a statue of Charlie Chaplin and an Irish footballer. There is a boardwalk area that looks down to the beach. The beach itself is very nice. It's full of large, water rounded stones and then a sandy shoreline.Written September 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim WSindelfingen, Germany2,930 contributionsDuring our tour of Ireland, my wife and I learned so much about Charlie Chaplin and his fondness and attachment to Ireland. He spent a lot of time in this city and gave back over the years. His daughter provided the funds to erect this statue to honor him and his love of Waterville.Written September 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bozeman-DublinTrim, Ireland8,868 contributionsJust on the seafront in Waterville, the Micko Statue is a must stop for anyone interested in Gaelic Football. Anyone who grew up watching football bring played or coached by this great man will not have to be asked twice to stop and pay homage.Written August 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bozeman-DublinTrim, Ireland8,868 contributionsAbsolutely amazing views from this lookout point on the Ring of Kerry between Waterville and Caherdaniell.
There's plenty of room to pull in and enjoy the views in both directions, back towards Warerville and down towards the Beara Peninsula.
Honestly, no words will do it justice, I've attached photos that will try to!Written August 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MyWhiteCatHertfordshire, UK137 contributionsThis is a small but interesting site with good parking and a clear explanations. It is not signed off the main road and involves a narrow lane so you might need to be fairly determined.Written September 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The walk starts on a residential road in the town walking to the left of the lake. After 10/15mins follow the Kerry Way walking sign off the road. The route takes you high into the hills overlooking the lake before taking you around it. It is a large loop approx 16miles (25km). Pack food, rain jacket etc. Takes approx. 6.5 hours.
The route is clearly marked all the way but there are 2 points where you must follow towards Caterdaniel/Waterville so watch out for them.Written August 15, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As such there are many historic buildings here, but almost all are now residential properties, if not guest houses or hotels. As such there isn't anywhere to go and see all of the history in one place, except at the Skellig Gift Store (listed seperately), which has a lot of information in a free and always open permenant exhibit, and Tech Amergin [Community Centre], which has an exhibition inside when open (also listed seperately as The Story of Waterville Cable Station Exhibition). The buildings and sites you should see are as follows:
1. Transatlantic Landing Site
2. Entrance to cable station
3. Londitude & Latitude stone
4. Superintendants House
5. Cable Company Offices
6. Married workers apartments (on way to GAA pitch)
These are all dotted around the town and are reachable on foot, sadly coach-trip visitors don't get to see many, as time is limited. My only gripe is that none are well sign posted (don't imagine residents want loads of visitors!), so plan your route well before arrival. However for the unprepared, there is a poster showing the best locations, located near to the Mick O'Dwyer Statue. The Waterville Heritage Trail is well worth doing, if you have the time, as it includes five of the six sites listed above.Written April 9, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
