What travellers are saying
- B TLondon, UK1,216 contributionsThis is inside the kasbah. It has quite a large collection of wonderful Roman mosaics that are just as good as those in the Bardo. It’s an underrated museum that is really interesting to visit.Written February 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anthony O4 contributionsThis was a highlight of our trip to Sousse. 5 dinars entry (£1.30 approx) to stroll around a wonderful ancient Tunisian dwelling crammed full of beautiful furnishings and artefacts.Written December 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LaskarLondon, UK28 contributionsDefinitely one of the better souks in Tunisia from my visit. They have a lot of traditional shops mixed with like shops that sell bags and clothes but it’s the more traditional shops you wanna visit. Some great spots to also stop for a coffee or some food.Written March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gemm454Gateshead, UK9 contributionsVery Relaxing in there Not very big but dangerous, you can go right to the top my 13 year old ran up before me and I nearly died of shock, the wall was below my knee and so narrow, no limit on how many can go up and down and you have no way of knowing . So as we were right at the top three tall men came pushing past, down the narrow stairs, not there fault no lights etc.. my son by this time was at the top wityh no railings one topple and you would fall to your death.. I was panicked
But it was beautiful, my daughter wasn't impressed but she's not into culture, while my other daughter who loves history thought it was great. If your in Sousse visit defo as its cheap and beautiful if your not in Sousse I wouldn't travel there to see it, I think there may be better historical places to go and see
They are very professional and calm- the staff, its very clean and you will not get hassled at all,... as you would outside the Ribat. Its right next to the I love Monastir big sign on the harbour. So you could make a day of it and go out on a boat trip too, do not pay for excursions we went on the bus and we were fine as a familyWritten May 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tiberiu_BaranyiTimisoara, Romania12,986 contributionsAt Medinat Alzahra Parc it is a setup that will bring you close to the Tunisian culture and give you a deeper understanding of what is Tunisia all about.
So prepare for the following :
- pending on where you are stationed near Sousse you will have a bus trip of about 30 -40 minutes (even more pending on distance and traffic to Medinat ....).
- upon arrival you will go through a souvenir shop - that will be open upon your departure.
- you get out into a big courtyard where you will encounter the Tunisian country life - with camels, goats and sheep, homemade flatbread with harissa and olive oil. Great perspective for those who are interested in this kind of cultural immersion.
- after you pass this area you get near a stage - there you will have a short - 20-30 minutes show of singing, dancing - dancing with some heavy potery held in equilibrium on their heads, horse riding with some acrobatics.
- after this you get into the restaurant area - there the food will be served - Brik a starter with some salad - I was enjoying that. After you get some Couscous soup - spicy and fresh (is not all that you can eat so the portions might not be equally satisfying.), than couscous with chicken and sheep sausages - overall decent food - not the best not the worst.
During your dinner there will be a show on the stage of the restaurant that is sort of a reproduction of a Tunisian wedding - still I doubt that is genuine, let's say is a reinterpretation of the wedding - the show ain't bad that's for sure and it is for the length of your dinner.
- the theatrical show - it is advertised as a laser show - it a is a lighting and theater show -with some lasers at certain points - still it is a very good show and the show is telling you the story of Tunisia from the ancient ages to the modern days.
Tell you how 6 nations have shaped the history of Magreb and Tunisia: berber, punic, roman, arabic, turk and french. All this cultural merging gave birth to the Tunisia we know today. You will have the story from the fall of mighty Carthage till the modern days. Lovely show and very interesting - and since you are sitting outside in an amphitheater guess what - you can smoke a cigarette if you want- and the great thing - the show is in 4 languages so everybody can understand what the story is telling. I really enjoyed it.
To sum it all up it was a great closure to our tunisian experience - I recommend you see it for yourself.Written December 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Still, some people didn't let the weather stop them enjoying themselves.
It does have rides for all ages and when I was here previously, it had a great atmosphere!Written April 2, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
