Just as fun to explore for its winding streets and alleys as the medina in Marrakech, but with far fewer people (including touts), a more relaxed atmosphere and the added bonus of salty sea air.

Fantastic spot to visit, excellent views of the sea, very photogenic. Well worth stopping here, especially when the sea is like it was today (Sunday 10th March)

I never expected the whole trek to be as awesome as it was. The nature was pretty, people were friendly and welcoming, horses were well behaved, taken care of and loved for. I loved to see that.

I recommend Cheval Essaouria for anyone that loves good vibes, view and horses! I will definitely go back again!

Famous for its blue boats, the port is where a lot of incoming buses drop off their day-tripping tourists, and it makes a good place to start exploring old Essaouira. The melee of wings and fur among the local seagulls and cats when the catch comes in is a sight to behold!

Being from Australia, I was surprised by how much this beach reminded me of those at home - decent surf, lined with palm trees, and white sands stretching off distant dunes. There are some facilities and eateries as well. Very picturesque.

With far fewer touters and much less hustle and bustle than the bigger souk in Marrakech, the shop- and stall-lined streets and alleys in Essaouira make for a much more enjoyable browsing and shopping experience.

A very beautiful former embassy building which lived many lives now in the hands of artist and collector Francois turned into an amazing space. The gallery presents a unique collection of self trained or outsider artists from Essaouira, many little known outside of Morocco, but all of excellent quality. A real treat and Francois was on hand, a very friendly guy, to explain the artists backgrounds and approaches to their individual practices. A very warm and approachable man with a great gallery. The building itself is beautiful and testament to the creativity of the man himself. A must visit for art brut lovers.

We bumped into this art gallery by mistake. A mistake that allowed us to enjoy the mind-blowing artistic scene in Essaouira. We truly loved the collection of art pieces that the gallery offers. A mix of colours and diverse artistic expressions. The gallery has an exhaustive collection of Mohammed Tabal’s pieces.

Silver and gem jewellery, created both on site and homeworkers ,experienced and apprenticed.. A diverse and interesting selection .
Allow at least an hour to browse and choose and to watch the artisans creating their work in the workshop next to the retail section.
Once selected, they can alter to fit the same day.
Third visit. Purchased in previous years.
Went specifically for a ring of authentic Amazigh design. Purchased a second when I went back to collect the upsized first one!
Staff not pushy ,and happy to let one browse .

Whole family went. City had a very fun energy for the few days we were there. Medina is so quaint and full of great food choices. Performances were beautiful. The teens especially loved it, as did I. Hope to go again.

Covered courtyard creating area for cultural events.
    Jazz evening .Amazing.
Very vibrant cultural community in this wonderful town.
Tickets sold out . We bought in the morning. Suggest you purchase as early as possible as the venue is quite small. We only noticed that there was a concert as we were passing and saw the signage the previous evening.
