We are arriving on the Azamara Quest on Fri Jul 8 2016 at Isle of Skye (Portree), Scotland 8:00am 6:00pm
This is a very important place because my ancestors left from here to sail to Waipu, New Zealand (via Nova Scotia ) over 175 years ago.
Would we be able to take the train in the the time allowed above ??
Any other advice would be gratefully received.
We will be staying in Inverness for 3 nights in July without a car. Interested in doing a day trip to Isle of Skye area, etc. Saw your review of Kyle Railway and that you went to Kyle of Lochalsh by train then to Isle of Skye and returned to I in one day? You had great reviews. How much time did you get to spend and how long was total trip?
Any insight, recommedations, etc are appreciated!
I plan to travel from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh with my daughter on Friday 17 April. It will be a day trip so we will return after lunch. While we have pre-purchased online all our rail travel through Europe, England and Scotland we had planned to buy the "Kyle" tickets on the day. Would former travellers on this train recommend buying the tickets online or purchasing at the station the day before? I am not aware of how crowded the train might be on this date.
I was wondering approximately how long did the trip take? I'm trying to figure out my itinerary and plan some activities, but I cant find anything saying how long it takes to do. Also, your tour of the Isle of Skye sounds like a nice thing to do, but does that make it a full day thing? thank you for your help!
