Can you walk to town centre by the river from hotel
Yes, but along the canal, not along the river. There are footpaths near the river but they're not great, and not picturesque - the canal works better because obviously there are always canal paths (that used to be for the horses that would pull barges). You need to cross the toll bridge and keep walking until you reach a pub, the George Inn, close to St Nicholas church. At the pub there is access to the canal path (also a cycleway) and that will get you to Sydney Gardens, Bathwick, Widcombe. In Bath there are several exits you can make from the path, all of which then involve about a 10 minute walk to get into the centre (by the Abbey, for sake of argument!). The path, like the canal, takes a circuit of the centre rather than going right there. Coming off at Sydney Gardens does at least allow you to enjoy the only remaining 18th Century "pleasure garden" in Britain, and the walk into town from the garden then takes you along Gt Pulteney Street. A steady typical walk along this route would take me just under an hour, pacing along it saves time, strolling doesn't!
if you walk up the hill you can get the local bus into city centre, its only 15 mins max in the car, southgate city car park is right in the heart of the city for attractions
Hi there, Yes one can walk but it takes around 45min to an hour depend to person to person and weather as well. :)
Hi Lyn, sorry I've only just seen your question. I don't think you can walk along the river. It took me about 45 minutes to walk along the road, via a small diversion at a main intersection into town. It was very straight forward.
It is a long way to town I went by car
Not sure. We walked for about 30 mins along the river and got as far as a big Road junction before running out of time!
Yes, walk form Old Mill Hotel toBath centre via the canalside takes around 45 minutes. Very nice journey to take with your lady.
There is a oat you can catch to go by river. To walk it's following the canal tow path and will take you about an hour. Very pretty walk though
There is a boat that goes from the bridge into Bath and back.
Apparently one can do this according to hotel staff. Not sure how long it would take. 90 mins?
