The diving and snorkeling in Bonaire is excellent. Many people say it is the best in the Caribbean, especially for shore access.

There are about 70 identified, named, and marked dive or snorkel sites. Many of these are suitable for both diving and snorkeling and most are shore accessible. There are several sources that fully identify and describe the dive/snorkel sites and you just drive along the road next to the ocean looking for rocks that have been painted yellow. The names of the sites will be painted in black on top of the yellow rock.

The Sonrisa itself is not one the water, but about two or three blocks away and many people do snorkel or dive in the area that is closest to the Sonrisa.

Yes there is some decent shore snorkelling in a variety of different locations. We hired bikes and cycled around the island to snorkel in different locations.

By far the best snorkelling was aboard the catamaran "Woodwind" of the island of Klein Bonaire. Go on the 5 hour trip.

However by far the best snorkelling we did was aboard "Woodwind" off the coast of Klein Bonaire. Look at the Trip Advisor reviews for this boat and crew.

We went out with them twice. Its not particularly cheap, but you get what you pay for and the crew are so professional and helpful to experienced snorkellers and beginners alike.

I`m not a diver, but there were plenty of divers going in from the shore while we were there.

We are keen snorkellers, and there are some good spots to snorkel from the shore.
