Hello! We've just booked for June 2019, and I'm still browsing the photos on TripAdvisor. I note warning signs about Sea Urchins ... are these seasonal, widespread or what? My mother trod on one many years ago in Jamaica, and I don't want to experience that myself!
We have a reef at one side of the beach and there are a few spiny creatures there including crabs lobsters and sea urchins. But they don't venture continue swimming area which is a safe and sandy bay.

There are areas with Sea Urchins and they are clearly marked so just keep away from them. There are loads of ares where they have been cleared so swimming and snorkeling is sea urchin free!
We swim here and it’s only amongst the rocks mainly to the left l. The main swimming area isn’t a problem. Enjoy your holiday
Only by the rocks and not a problem anyway. I hit one a few years back (totally my fault as I wasn’t looking near the rocks) and easily pulled out the odd spine. Ones in Europe far worse! Back for 6th visit in feb
There are small rock areas at each end of the beach, where any sea urchins will inhabit, but easily avoided and lots of open swimming areas which are completely urchin free...
