If I am coming by ferry, is it difficult to get to this B&B? It appears from the reviews that the location is good, but for the sites not close, such as Craigdarroch Castle, is there a city transit to take to get there? Also, I would be coming with my 77 year old mom. Is there a room where she would not need to take a lot of steps to get to it? She is in pretty decent shape, but this will be on a several day tour, and I don't want to get her tired out. Thank you.
Hi there, Albion Manor is close to the ferry and I would advise you to catch a taxi , rather than walking especially with your elderly mother. She would appreciate the beautiful Manor and its gardens. There are many rooms to choose from and there is not many stairs. As to the castle we did not go there, but it is a local tourist attraction and your hosts are excellent local advisors to see the best of the area and they will point you in the right direction to get transport to all the sites. Make sure you take your mother to the Fairmont as well. Victoria is a wonderful city and Albion Manor is a fantastic place to stay to experience this area. Regards, Alex (cagatravel).
There are a about 5 steps to get to the main entrance of the Albion Manor, but once inside you can choose a room on the main floor (no more steps to climb), or downstairs (about 10 steps down to the lower level). Dining room and sitting room are on the main level. If you choose a room with a king bed those can usually be split into two twin beds. If you call reception they are very helpful with trying to make things work for you. Walking depends on your mom's health - if there are no issues it's not a problem. You can walk to Craigdarroch Castle but it's at least a 40 minute walk and quite a bit of up hill heading out there.
Thank you so much for the information!!!
The ferry terminal is about a 10 minute walk. If you have much luggage you may want to grab a cab out front. The walk with luggage may be a bit much for your mom. It would depend on how active she is.
I'm not familiar with the castle so I can't advise you.
The Manor is lovely and the host are charming. I would suggest calling the Manor for any other questions.
P.S. Your mom will love the breakfast!!
Dee, if you are coming in on the Clipper or other ferry that takes you to Victoria inner harbor, it is a less than 10 minute walk on non-hilly streets. If you're coming into the ferry terminal at Swartz Bay or elsewhere,, you'll need to take a taxi or bus. It is at least a 30 minute drive. Public transportation is fairly easy throughout Victoria, and there is a bus stop a few blocks away. About steps at the Albion -- there are a few to get into the B & B, but once you're inside, everything is on one level.
Dee we stayed there but I cant answer your questions really. Probably best to contact the owners.
The ferry we caught was about an hours bus ride away and we took tickets that included the bus and ferry. The bus was about a $7.00 cab fare from Albion from memory.
We are fit and walked everywhere easily..
