Yes it is close and it opens early saturday morning. Everything is close as the downtown is small. If you like Oysters stop by Gahan House they have a delicious one called Boss Gibson, jand down best oyster ever.

Yes. Everything is very close in the harbourfront area. Saint John is awesome - more pubs (per square area) than any city in North America (apparently). Many shops, restaurants, etc. in the "uptown" area. You will LOVE it! (City Market will only take about 20 minutes to see... it's not like the market you are probably imagining...) However, many shops are interconnected via an indoor walking "route".

Yes it's about a 10 minute walk from where the ships dock. It's uphill so wear comfortable shoes. In Brunswick Square on the way to the market on the bottom floor is a great dollar store for souvenirs.

It is relatively close if you are able bodied. It is uphill to the market and should take about 10 minutes once you Denmark the ship.
