Cabot Trail Questions & Answers

Toronto, Canada

We'll be spending two days driving the Cabot Trail and I'm wondering which hiking trails you'd recommend? We will definitely be doing Skyline, but which other hiking trail would you recommend and why?

You can try Middleton Head Trail located on the East side of the peninsula. The trail is not so long and finishes on a spectacular cape surrounded by the ocean.

We did Middle Head Trail in Ingonish near the Keltic Lodge. I really enjoyed it, mostly a forest walk with ocean views and a great view of Cape Smokey. Once you get to the end of the pennisula feels like you hiked to the end of the world. It was about 1.5 hours, moderate pace. When you pay your entrance fees at the park gate you will get a "magazine" about Cape Breton National Park, with information about all (more than 20) hiking trails, degree of difficulty and where the trail heads can be found.

Unfortunately I don't hike so I can't recommend a trail.
