Residence Inn by Marriott Montreal Downtown Questions & Answers

I have been researching the parking situation and I have some questions as it seems confusing. If the unloading zone is full as it seems to be for most people checking in. Is there a parking garage/lot to park at that will fit a Dodge Grand Caravan? Also can I park first and then check in? I heard the one near the hotel is small. Some reviewers were saying there is a narrow garage beside hotel and another behind the hotel. Can you please clarify? Thank you.

We drove a Buick Enclave to the hotel and had to park in their outside parking because I thought the car was bigger (in height) than the max height allowed into the garage.

To clarify, the hotel has two areas to park. An inside parking area and a small area outside for larger vehicles. Both are behind the hotel. I can't speak to the spaces/availability for inside parking as I only parked outside (given the size of my car). I would think a Dodge Caravan would also be too big for the inside parking. The outside area I parked in was small - and though each time I wanted to park there was a space, I was there during low season (i.e., it may be possible that during high season parking outside may be a problem). To be sure, I would suggest calling the hotel and tell them you have a larger van and asking them to make sure parking is worked out.

As to parking and checking in - you can park first but would have to carry your bags around the building to the front of the hotel. There is no back entrance (at least not accessible to the public).

I would suggest using the loading/unloading zone in front of the hotel. It's not big (we had to wait until a car in front of us was done) but that's better than rolling bags around the building.

Best of luck!!

We have been there 3 stays and have never had a problem with the unloading zone being full--1 other car, if any, We've also never had a problem with the garage. You're provided with a little map to get you there and it's well marked--maybe intimidating at first, but not confusing. Sometimes we need to park down many levels, but there is an elevator, so no problem. I think if you paid on your own, not through the hotel, you could park in any garage you wanted prior to checking in, but you'd have to roll your luggage a substantial way to get from garage back to the hotel. The hotel's parking is not badly located and it's convenient for us to use it.

The hotel has a relationship with the Indigo parking on the street behind the hotel. It is tight but will accommodate your minivan. I found the drop off space in front of the hotel was open for checking in.

The front desk attendants will watch your car if the parking zone is filled. I needed to park in the street. Not ideal, but I needed to grab my bags from my room some how and I shouldn't be expected to circle the block for 20 minutes while I wait for a spot to open.

I'm sorry I don't know because we had given up our rental car to take the subway during our time in Montreal. The best thing to do is to contact the front desk. It's such a great hotel and they are so helpful.
