Van der Valk Hotel Schiphol Questions & Answers

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Hello Everyone,

I am booked at the hotel the 1st week of Sept. Any tips on how and where to get the complimentary airport shuttle from the airport to the hotel?

Any good places to visit near the hotel / city center? Would you recommend buying the train pass (3/4/5 days pass) from the airport itself?

Look forward for your reply and feedback,

Cheers!

Shuttle bus is in the direction of the Sheraton hotel, arrival hall 3. To get around, I strongly advice the train pass; the hotel itself is only connected with buslines but take the free shuttlebus back to the airport and from there trains run to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, Den Haag and Rotterdam (all in less than 1 hour).

The shuttle bus will collect you between A9 and A13. Really easy to find as you exit the airport building. I think they ran every half hour if I remember correctly.

Hi. The hotel bus shuttle stops are just outside the terminal building. Clearly marked. Most of the hotels share shuttle buses but the Van der Valk has a bus of its own. It will say Hotel Van der Valk on the side of the bus. The driver was most helpful and put my case in the storage area for me.

There are time tables in the bus shelter/waiting area. Ive used the Netherlands train system many time and the trains are good value. The road from the Airport to the hotel was quite busy around tea time.....but the journey was done in under 30 minutes.

We rented a car with a GPS and got around to everywhere. Amsterdam is about 20-25 minutes and parking is available contrary to what you might hear. We found parking by Heineken Brewery along the canal.

The shuttle is usually quite full and we found it quite cumbersome to use.

If you can afford it, use uber. We traveled with kids so it was easier.

The airport is the best place to buy tickets unless you're buying the tourist pass online.
