Is there a cycle route along the Thames to Windsor? Or with some pretty scenery rather than main roads? Do bikes have to be booked?
Sorry for the delayed answer, only just seen this.
They provide you with a cycle route that is a mix of road then cycle paths along the river into Windsor with some lovely scenery. If you do a loop the return route is a mix of road and cycle path, or out could go back the same way by the river.. we didn't book the bikes, but if you pick a busy weekend/day you might want to phone ahead and see if you can reserve as I'm not sure how many they have.
Bikes at the hotel are free. You can only cycle along the river about a mile from outside Windsor town centre.. you pick the river route up near Windsor leisure centre. You will be around 3.5miles from the town centre and the ride to the leisure centre(river) has a cycle path down a busy but pretty road.
Windsor is hilly in the centre but ok on the out skirts. You really need to go for a walk on the "long walk"
Windsor is a terrific town, with tons to see and do. If visiting the castle, get there early, queues are long.
