We are visiting the area from May 20 - 25 and would like a place to stay so we can wander around Carcassonne. But we also would like to take day trips to historic and interesting areas around Carcassonne. First, do you have a nice size room with queen or king bed for that time? This is a special trip to celebrate my husbands retirement. Secondly, is the best way to come via train from Paris? Also, is there rental cars near by? Hopefully you will be able to suggest places to visit that we can drive to (already interested in the Ochre mines!). We love finding little villages, and love the look and feel of wandering all over Carcassonne - how charming it is!!! Thanks. Linda and Mike Hodge
Hello and thanks for your enquiry.
The only room I have available with a queen/king size bed is my triple room. You can see my all rooms and prices on my website which Trip Advisor won't let me give you on this forum.
The best way from Paris would be by train. Most rental car companies are at the airport but I believe they do have a service at the train station. You would have to contact them direct to find out. There is free parking here but it is a short walk to get into the medieval city as you cannot drive up to the door.
There are many picturesque villages to visit in this area plus the ruins of old castles.
Hope this helps.
