Do you offer tours in March, 2015 and how long is the tour.
The organised tours starts from the 1st of May in the Synagogerse, bur of course if you prefer there is private tours as well, If you inquire in daily organised tours, I recommend you to contact me: email@example.com
If you want to visit Budapest earlier and you plan a private tour, we can manage that also.
It might still be too cold in March, but perhaps they'll run an individual tour for you. You could also try the one run by the Dohany Street synagogue itself. The one I did was the one run by Budapest Jewuish Heritage Tours. Good guide, who was very informative. See below for the details of their 3-hour tour, called the Grand Jewish Budapest tour. They also do a 1.5-hour one.
Meeting in front of the world's second largest Synagogue, the tour includes visiting the Dohány Street Synagogue and the Jewish Museum (interior visits), including the Jewish Garden: Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park with the Tree of Life and pass by the Heroes Temple. The walking tour continues to the old-new Jewish Quarter inside visit the Rumbach Street Synagogue, the Carl Lutz Memorial Park and the famous Gozsdu Courtyard. Then visit the center of the Ortodox Jewish Quarter. Outside visit of the Kazinczy Street Synagogue. After the tour a cake and drink in the Kosher Fröhlich confectionary. The tour ends at the Fröhlich confectionary.
I participated in one of these tours last March (2014) but I don't know about their tour schedule in March 2015. I can't answer more authoritatively than the answer that someone else has already provided here. I suggest that you go on line and check the website for both Jewish Heritage Tours (Budapest) and also for The Great Synagogue (Budapest) for an authoritative response. I think their websites also provide links for one to email questions, to which I assume they'll respond.
I'm not sure about the tours in March but the Synagogue is open. Except on March 15th, which is a national holiday, they are usually open from Sunday to Thursday (regular hours) and Friday maybe closing earlier for Shabbat. Saturday is closed for the same reason. The tour guides are good and knowledgeable.
I am not certain about the tours n March but I don't see why not as most of the tour is conducted inside and the weather is wonderful in March. You can choose from a 2 hour tour and a longer tour, a group tour and a private tour. These choices are all up to you.
Good luck and enjoy!
