Snorkeling is the best I have done. You need someone with a boat or take a tour boat. You have to see the preserve. It is so beautiful and you will see all kinds of fish, rays, sharks and amazing coral reefs

You have the option of either going on several guided snorkel trips including Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley Marine Reserves, or you can take one of our sea kayaks out to the reef which is less than a mile out, tie up at a buoy close to the reef and go on your own, unguided snorkel adventure, to experience an abundance of marine life.

We enjoyed the snorkeling very much. The corals were nice and there were a lot of fish. We did get to see a turtle and an eel. Plus the shark viewing and ray viewing at Hol Chan was excellent. To me the current was a bit strong, but I have limited snorkeling experience. You can easily paddle out to the reef from the hotel as well.

From someone who has done some scuba diving, I was very surprise at how awesome the snorkeling was at the resort.. You take the kayak out and tie up to a buoy. We went out there 3 times and saw a nurse shark every time. We even saw a couple of sting rays and lots of fish. I would recommend taking your own goggles and snorkel just so you are more comfortable with your gear.

You can paddle out the reef from hotel property (15 minutes) and see beautiful sea life. Hol Chan is awesome and you can arrange the trip through the front desk.

The preserve is formally called the Hol Chan Marine Reserve.
