Looking for upscale hotels walking distance to SoCo. Downtown seems full of high rises. Price is not a factor
Thanks for any advice
Any opinions about Four Seasons or Hyatt Regency Austin?? We don't really want to be in the middle of the noise-- don't mind walking 20-30 minutes
There are several on or just off of S. Congress, mostly boutique hotels. The exception is the South Congress Hotel, a full-service hotel right in the middle of the S.Congress activity. Boutique hotels include the Austin Motel, a 50s style motel that has been renovated; the Hotel San Jose; a motel renovated to a modern rock style; Kimber Modern, about 1 block off of S.Congress; and Hotel St.Cecelia, about 2 blocks off of S.Congress.
There are a few B&Bs and any number of short-term rentals, often homes, that are closer than the downtown hotels.
Other places listed in earlier responses are NOT on S.Congress - Driskill, Embassy Suites, Staybridge, Wood Spring and Omni.
Hyatt regency is slightly off Congress.Near Threadgill's restaurant and has buses to Dallas and Houston.Vonlane luxury buses leave from here. ALSO access to walking trail around Ladybird lake.
Soco hotel has nice restaurant and rooms on Congress ave. The Beverly Condos on 11th and Red river are very modern with parking, indoor pool and downtown access for about 1000 a week.
Same here. I usually stay at the Driskill on 6th Street. Upscale historic hotel with great bar and close to restaurants, bars and sights. It's about a 30 minute walk to So Co or less than 10 minute Uber ride.
I've also stayed at the Embassy Suites on Congress, about a 10 minute walk to So Co.
I've heard the South Congress Hotel is also nice, but I've never stayed there. It is located in the middle of So Co.
