Andasibe-Mantadia National Park (Reserve of Perinet) Questions & Answers

Although we really wanted to do Isalo National Park and/or Tsingy Rouge Park, because of the distance from Tana, we do not think they are 1 1/2 day round-trip tours/trips from Tana. For that reason we will settle for the one day Andasibe-Mantadia National Park tour. However, we arrive in Tana on Saturday, August 12 about 2 p.m. and we have Sunday, August 13 free and 'possibly' we can make August 14 available for this national park tour. The problem is for this trip, they/you require a minimum of four people and we only have two. Could you let us know if you find two more people who are interested in this tour preferably August 13 or possibly August 14? Thank you.

when you check in the hotel you are going to stay in Tana tell the receptionist you wish to visit this park they can arrange private car to take your there and tell them you want a car who is authorise to go to the park.Always negotiate the trip price before you say yes they can charge you twice the fare. The park will charge you 45000 and 55000 Aria per person for the guide Aria local currency.the car will cost 100000 aria return to Tana. one or two person is the same price but you need to leave very early to be there by 8/8.30 am it is very interesting to see very closely these animals.

I agree with all the previous posts. One important point is to not underestimate the driving time anywhere in Madagascar, the state of the roads can be horrendous. Locals don't call damage to the road surface 'pot-holes' but 'elephant nests'....!

We had a guide I think you could find a private driver. I think the roads are really almost 4 wheel drive, we are from the west of the USA and regularly drive rough roads, but I wouldn't have wanted to drive them. Also we had 3 flat tires, there isnt always cellphone service and were lucky our guides had back up vehicles

The previous answer is excellent. You can arrange for your own travel and that is the problem - the distance from Tana. - do not underestimate the travelling time. We took about 4 hours I remember and of this it took 1 hour to get out of Tana. Also check on the opening times of the park.

I guess this is a question for some tour organisers, however, you do not have to be four people - you can go by yourself (we did, two people, and it's quite easy) - you hire a car from Tana, around 75 £ per day for a 4wd and chauffeur, around 50 for a normal car and at the national park you just buy your admissions and decide for which hikes, find a good guide (can also be arranged through the people where you rent the car - your hotel can probably also help you). Definitely I do not recommend going further away from Tana for national park hiking when you only have 1 1/2 day.
