Thank you for your question. We are in a safe area and, in fact, Andersonville was rated the best neighborhood by Chicago's City Pages. Andersonville is a neighborhood full of families and long time Chicagoans who pride themselves on the community they've built. It's chalked full of shops, restaurants, bars and even a farmer's market every Wednesday night!
Additionally, we are located right on the Clark Bus route which runs all night and about 10 minutes walk from the Lawrence Redline stop.
Beautiful area. Walked around at night. Use the same travel sense as anywhere else.
Oh no! Not at all. The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood & is across the street from a cemetery. My family & I felt very much at home in this neighborhood.
It's absolutely safe, and just couldn't be described as scary - even by people like me, who tend to be easily frightened! The Guesthouse is part of a fun, vibrant neighborhood; although it definitely gives an urban vibe, there's no attitude, only friendly helpfulness from the outstanding staff. My son is lucky to live in this neighborhood, and I feel very lucky to be able to stay at The Guesthouse for every visit. I think you'll be very happy you chose this wonderful hotel.
Very safe! Quiet too!
It is very safe. In fact I lost my wallet in one of the area restaurants I had 5 credit cards, a mortgage check and $75 in cash I knew that it was a loss cause and began calling all of the credit card companies to inform them. I called the restaurant and they said someone had turned it in that is virtually unheard of. The news media portrayal of Chicago as a violent city is not accurate. In any city you will find a rough side but this neighborhood certainly is not that one.
We agree! We felt safe our entire time there
My spouse and I felt safe in this neighborhood, at night and during the day. Guesthouse is not in the downtown. We used cabs and walked to get to restaurants museums and Wrigley Field.
Nice and safe. Fun neighborhood to stroll through with a good mix of restaurants and shops. Recommend paying a little additional fee for a spot in their parking garages located right in the back, if you are uncomfortable parking on the street in the front. Andersonville is a really enjoyable area and there are other nice neighborhoods nearby to explore, as well.
Definitely felt safe walking around the neighborhood and to a restaurants a few blocks away.
