How can I get a guided tour of the Capital? It seems to be available to groups only. Thanks!
My understanding is that you are correct. They do guided tours for groups but they don't say how large a group is. To be honest I don't think a tour is really necessary. The city of Raleigh was not on the map when the War for Independance was fought and the Civil War never touched it. There are a number of statues and plaques around and in the building so, going and walking the area on your own is, in my opinion, a better option than taking a tour, anyway.
Guided tours are available on Saturdays at 11am snd 2 pm. They also have self guided tours you can take anytime during operating hours.
We just showed up one morning and jacked what time the next tour was.
Guided tours apparently only for 10 or more, but there is detailed information for a self guided tour at nchistoricsites and select tours (can't include links in these answers apparently...sorry!)
Looking and reading the available signs was very informative. The building is not huge , but very nice and very interesting.
Sorry we went on a Sunday but perhaps you should call or ask the Capital itself or perhaps the museum. Someone should know, I would think. Sorry that I can't tell you more except that you can just go from statue to statue absorbing all the info and the beautiful surroundings.
I wish we had had time to go to the museum. If you do just what I have mentioned and then have a good meal at one of the fine restaurants around there, you should have a great time. God send his blessings on your trip.
