We will be visiting Cavendish Oct.8.
Is there still access to the beach ?
Is shops and restaurants still open?
cavendish is basically a "summer town" the beach should still be accessible as it's a national park ( dont forget your park pass) Some larger restaurants may still be opened. i was in pei for labor day weekend, and most things, such as gateway village were shutting down. you will probably have better luck in Ch'town If you are looking for little shops. it's about 40 min drive.
We left there about 7 days ago. The beach will still be accessable, but the changing rooms were already closed up, so not sure whether the toilet blocks will remain open at the beach parking lots.Nearly all the cafes/restaurants and shops had closed already. There's a supermarket which will be open at Rustico, but I'd suggest stocking up at Charlottetown which is only about 30 minutes away
The streets roll up after Labour Day. My husband and FIL went mid/September last year and had to go to Charlottetown for most services.
You may have a hard time finding anything tourist-y to do. Good luck!
