Did you feel safe in the area? Some of the pics posted on TripAdvisor of the exterior appear to be a little seedy and dark. My husband and I are visiting the Aviary in late June and we want to feel secure. Also, will the shuttle van take us to the Aviary? Thank you :)
Hello. I am responding on behalf of the hotel. Thanks for your question. The Priory Hotel is located in a thriving residential neighborhood called Deutschtown. If you are interested, you can find more information about the neighborhood at the website deutschtown. While people's perceptions of what is "safe" in terms of their surroundings differ, the vast majority of our guests enjoy walking around the neighborhood and exploring what it has to offer. If guests prefer not to walk, we offer a complimentary shuttle which takes guests to the National Aviary, as well as many of the other sights and attractions in Center City Pittsburgh.
I wasn't sure what to think when approaching the hotel. Parking is across the street. Very glad for the shuttle bus.
Honestly no-- not very. I'm
Sure it IS safe but t it feels just as you describe it-- dark and empty and rather lifeless. So walking around at night was just no fun. And parking was a challenge. Rooms are lovely but I'd find a livelier place to stay!!
No!!! Unsafe especially at night.
When we first arrived at the Priory, it was late and we were tired. Yes the parking lot is across the street in a fenced area, but other than the hassle of the possibility of rain, I felt my car was safe, as were we. We never felt unsafe, and the complimentary shuttle service was a wonderful amenity that actually saved us money in driving (and getting lost) in Pittsburg and having to pay parking. We are planning another trip and will be staying at the Priory.
