Good Day, Holly D

The resort does have beach access to the James River and swimming is allowed. Please be aware that, as with all bodies of water, swimmers must use caution. The James is a tidal river with currents.

Also, Kingsmill Resort does offer many other activities in which to enjoy the river. There are water bike, paddle board, kayak, sea cycle, jet ski, and pontoon rentals available to our guests.

I am not sure about the river access at Kingsmill but if you want to go in the James, there are several "beaches" along the colonial parkway on the way to Jamestown. Other nice river beaches are along the York river and the colonial parkway (on the way to Yorktown) and Yorktown has a very nice beach.

Not sure about access to the water to swim, but there are alot of beaches in the area. One of my favorites is the Jamestown Beach located right across from the Jamestown Settlement. The water is not too deep and it is safe.

Sorry, but I didn't finish my response before submitting it. What I meant was that small watercraft are available for rental from the Resort and they encourage you to enjoy the river in this way.

The river access is right next to the dock, where Kingsmill permanent residents keep their boats. For that reason, it would be too risky to allow swimming there. Small watercrafr

I do not think you will want to swim in it. I am not sure even if they would allow it. I was not down there when it was warm enough for swim season.
