We are planning a trip to Hawaii in July 2016; there will be two couples so we need two rooms. With the standard ocean view rooms; do they have private bathrooms?
We stayed in the large suite when we were there last week. If you stay in the other rooms in the main plantation house you will have to take a shower in the very nice private showers in the backyard; they provide towels and high quality bathrobes. I'm not sure whether these standard rooms include an ensuite toilet & sink or if those are shared. Check with the owners at 808-323-2686. Phoning is the best way since they don't always respond within 24 hours to emails.
Also, FYI, we spoke to a number of couples who were staying in the regular rooms when we were there and all seemed quite satisfied with the accommodations. This is a great place to stay.
We stayed in one of the ocean view rooms on our 3rd night. There was a VERY Large shared bathroom, I believe for 3 different rooms on the second floor. The first 2 nights we stayed in the downstairs suite which had a private bathroom. They also have 2 outside lava rock showers and provide bathrobes for you to use those showers. They provide all the soap and shampoo as well as beach towels. The outside showers are very quaint.
As I recall, they have private 1/2 bathroom - toilet & sink. There are two showers: one down the hall that is private and one outside that is semi-private (lava wall with curtain). Also stayed in the cottage with private bath. I preferred the ocean view rooms in the main house but both are nice.
We had an ocean veiw with a toilet and sink attached to our room, but no shower. I was hesitant about the outdoor shower so I used the communal shower down the hall. It wasn't a big deal. Other guests were respectful and kept the area clean. It is a very large bathroom with a lock on the door. My husband was the first to brave the out door shower and loved it. It was a unique experience and made the trip more memorable. Don't hesitate to stay here, you won't regret it.
Ours did. But not shower
The ocean-view rooms on the second floor have their own private toilet+sink and also share a large bath/shower on the same floor.
The suite on the first floor has a full private bathroom but does not have the ocean view.
There is also outside of the house a wonderful shower facility enclosed by three walls and lush tropical vegetation, which is a lot of fun! My wife loved using it.
I hope this helps.
