If I book a ticket, will I have a time slot & if so will that ensure I get to go up at that time?
Not sure what these people are talking about. I wish people wouldn't answer questions if they really do not know the answer, but...
You absolutely can pre-purchase a ticket for a specific date and time. With that ticket, you are guaranteed the elevator ride to the top at your specified time. When you are buying the tickets online, immediately after you pick the quantity, it goes straight to the calendar where you pick the date and time. I went on a busy Saturday morning with an 11am ticket, and didn't wait in a line at all, we only had to stand at the bottom of the elevator for about 2 minutes while the elevator came down.
Links are not permitted or I would post the link to the ticket purchase, but if you go to the SF parks and rec page for Coit Tower, about half way down the page, you will see a big brown button that says "Pre-purchase your mural tour and/or elevator tickets now!"
Hope this helps.
Don't think I can help you because my husband and I seen the tower from the road and wondered what it was. We walked up the hill (very steep) and paid at the entrance which is just inside the door. There was no queues and no time slots. We just "rocked up" and went in. After seeing this place I am so glad we did NOT get this on any tour. I don't think it's worth that. You are only in there for an hour at the most. It's nothing too special but it is informative of a piece of San Francisco's history.
To answer your question- Steve J. has posted a clear answer.
Yes, if you pre- purchase a ticket via the Coit Tower website, you will get a specific time and possibly avoid the long elevator line. (It is small)
Hope this helps...
Thanks Steve, that's a great help & will save me lots of time.
I don't think there's a set time slot system - it's limited to certain numbers at any one time on top, so the line steadily moves on, and we weren't rushed up Top either.
I don't think you can book in advance, well worth the wait if you have to queue, best views of San Francisco. .
No, it is a relatively small operation and you just get your ticket from the kiosk and the walk to the lift.
Other users may know more about peak times but we went in April and while it was busy, we got the next lift up and had access to all of the gaps and windows at the top. Well worth the visit though, the views are spectacular!
