I agree Canlis needs an older wait staff , yes the young ones are cute.. but there is no authority prevailing in this restaurant anymore, obviously... sorry people spend that kind of money to be treated like this. But, I dont understand a different table wasnt asked for or offered...
not to return obviously...
I don't believe age has anything to do with it. It's simply training/management. Staff can only care as much as the upper management does. What I DO find interesting is that Canlis seems to respond diligently to positive reviews and ignore constructive criticisms. I even took the time out to write Katie personally. I have been a senior executive for international companies and have been the founder/operator of my own concept (only 10 locations) for over a decade. I'm a certified trainer and a 'celebrity chef' on many TV shows, so I feel I had some good insight for them; however apparently I wasted my time as my email was not even acknowledged. It's a shame that Canlis feels that they are above reproach as my social circle IS their primary demographic and they've been a topic of conversation at 3 social functions so far.
I was responding to another diners review.
i cannot think of a way that Canlis could have improved our visit -- other than lower the prices a bit. Some people will complain just because they are miserable people, and want to share their unhappiness with everyone else.
This comment is so far from reflective of what our experiences have been that one wonders about some hidden agenda in the reviewer's remarks. We have always found the wait staff at Canlis to be among the very best in top tier restaurants no matter what their age may be. We look forward to our next opportunity to be served by such charming, knowledgeable, and excellently trained staff.
