I have seen this plantation advertised by some as haunted.....is there much reported activity? if so which rooms are best?
Officially, I have no answer, but rumor has it there may have been paranormal activity/sightings in rooms 22 and 29. Both rooms are in buildings original to the property.
We didn't notice anything and haven't heard anything about that.
We stayed several days on our last visit and have visited the property several times and nothing has ever been mentioned about the property being haunted.
Now, it's funny you should say that..... our first (and only) morning there, when my husband was doing the guided tour, they said that the room next to ours, where our daughter had slept, was haunted. When we told our daughter about this later, she said she'd woken in the night and was convinced she could hear a rocking chair in her room (which there wasn't). She was quite scared, but managed to get back to sleep eventually. She said she was really glad she hadn't been told about the ghost beforehand!
Apparently there is a ghost in the main building of the hotel. Ask them which room is best when booking!
My wife and I just stayed two nights in room 22 which is an honor as it is the former bedroom of the famous owner of the mansion, Govenor/General John Anthony Quitman. You even get to sleep in his custom-made king size four-poster bed ( he was six foot one inch tall). We experienced nothing unusual and found the room to be quiet, beautifully appointed and historic. I wish I had seen old John's ghost .... I would have shaken his hand.
Hi, I stayed there in February this year and stayed in the top room in the main building and nothing happened but that doesn't mean it won't. Good luck its a beautiful house and the food is excellent. Sue
I didn't see or notice anything but it was mentioned in the tour!
