Hi can I ask would a suite be plenty big enough for me, the boyfriend and my mother - obviously we need a bit of privacy but also its nice to have a bit of space but hang out together?
Also, are there any reasonably priced nearby walking distance restaurants to this hotel; is the food at the hotel reasonably priced?
First of all you are very brave! The suites do vary in size even if they say one bedroom. I'll explain, if you choose a ocean view suite either one bedroom or two they are the same but if you go for a suite with partial view I.e. Towards the road end then these are larger.
In the one bedroom suites as you probably have gathered there is a separate sofabed which during the day is your couch.
On prices, everything in Barbados is expensive if you compare it to the UK. The local shop over the road from the hotel will empty your purse within seconds of entering!
However as you are going then just prepare! Make sure you visit the Indian and the two in the gap on the ocean front, sorry I can't remember their names now but if you read my reports on Barbados you will see them.
Have a great time
The suite --room 310 is actually a suite within a suite.
You have the living areas such as the dinning room, kitchen, deck and living room together. There is a king bed/bathroom with large vanity for two shower and toilet with a locked door and small deck. You may enter into the other living areas by passing another bedroom with separate bathroom. In the suite were held, your mom doesn't have to sleep on the sofa but it is another option if she for some reason did not want the bedroom. huuummm.
Our suite was big enough by all means but only had 1 king bed...you'd need a 2 bedroom ocean suite...plenty big enough then. Separate bathroom with 2 sinks, huge walk in shower. Huge living space/kitchen area and balcony also.
The Gap is literally on the main road outside the hotel. You turn left towards the direction of the Gap itself then. And you will find many different restaurants and bars. A lot cheaper than the hotel. The hotel was in our opinion expensive. Breakfast for instance which is a buffet ...was around £25 per head. Bliss cafe about a 2 minute walk down the Gap on the right had side did a brilliant selection for breakfast and was a lot cheaper. Food on the island is expensive so bear that in mind lol. Other than that the hotel is in perfect location as it's the far quiet end of the Gap but also within walking distance. I'd say 15 mins gentle stroll to get to the very far end of the Gap.
Hope this helps
Yes there is a pull out sofa in the living room if you take the one bedroom apartment. You guys can have some privacy by sending mom to the pool.
There are some great Jamaican Jerk restaurants and other cafes and supermarket deli just 2 mins from the hotel. For fine Italian dining there is a upscale restaurant at the nearby Turtle Beach Resort just 5 mins wall away from the hotel.
The meals are pretty tasty at the hotel and they usually have some weekend BBq on the roof whuch is popular.
I hope you enjoy your stay at Ocean 2 Resort and dont forget the Friday night Fish Fry at Oistins Fish Markwt for some superb fresh fish meals.
If your Mom is happy to sleep on the sofa then yes....a separate living/dining area plus patio.....a big bath & separate bedroom.
Many dining choices too.
This stay we had a one bedroom suite which suited us, as it was just us two.
However, our first stay we had our two teenage daughters with us and had a two bedroom lower penthouse suite. Yes, plenty big enough. A little pricey, but well worth it!
Personally, I didn't find Barbados that different to the UK as far as shop prices went... The small market over the road may be a little more than a larger supermarket, but I would expect that, anyway.
Take a walk up to the Gap... restaurants are plenty.
One I would recommend - more of a cocktail bar, but great food - Sharky's. Friendly and attentive staff and a great atmosphere.
Go for it... you'll have a great time!
Barbados is generally very very expensive food wise. But near this hotel there are small restaurants which are quite good and very reasonably priced. food at this hotel is exceptionally good. A 2 bed suite for 3 might be quite big but will provide lots of space and privacy
