Diefenbunker: Canada's Cold War Museum Questions & Answers

Oakville, Canada

Apart from the 1 hour guided tour , is there more to see in the museum? Ideally how much time should be kept aside for this museum?

Hi. We self guided. It took about 2 hours. There is plenty of info around and the map explains the route and where everything is. The tours appeared to miss some bits from what we saw but I am sure the stories make up for that.

We went back after lunch and spent perhaps another 30-45m. Depends on level of interest.

I would set aside three hours or a bit more as the tour passes quickly through areas where there are many detailed information panels that are well-prepared. Our tour started about half an hour late or more. It was excellent and covered a lot of ground but I would have liked to go back and read more of the information panels after, as well as soak in the atmosphere. If we had set aside more time, this would have been possible.

I agree, I would leave a couple of hours. Then visit the vineyard/winery next door, which has a tasting room and lets you wander through the vines.

I would allow a half day if you like to read all the info provided. The tour is a good overview, but does not cover all one can glean in a self-guided is it.
